“Look at me Monroe, with yo sexy ass.” My eyes landed on his juicy cinnamon lips. I wanted to kiss him so bad, but I knew that was big violation for him. The most I ever got was quick pecks. “You ain’t got to say it, just show a nigga you love me, sexy.” The ruggedness of his fingers gripped my ass, he spread each cheek apart to push in deeper. My eyes were flickering, and I didn’t know how long I could maintain eye contact with him.
“Cum with me baby.” His voice held need and it made my insides stir for him. The kind of dick this man delivered wasn’t normal and he wondered why he had women that was only one night stands tatt his name a million times. This was trophy type of dick, the kind you wanted to put inside of a lock box and keep hidden away from the world.
My mouth fell open, but nothing came out. My stomach cramped up along with my feet, I released right along with Inferno as he held me tight for what felt like an eternity. Once my breathing returned to normal, he placed me down slowly and gave me his back to look at.
“What do you want to eat?” It was a simple question that had me nibbling on my bottom lip. When he turned to stare at me, my breath got caught in my throat and I somehow started to choke feeling more stupid in front of him. After all these years of dealing with Inferno, I couldn’t seem to adjust to how fine this man was. I was smitten all the time and found myself lusting and feeling silly in love.
Malice Ashonti Ruiz was one of a fucking kind. There wasn’t a man alive, walking this earth that had any resemblance close to him. He had his own signature walk, he talked differently and the way he made his moves out in the streets made him a different type of gangsta. I kept praying that one-day God would bless me. I wanted God to open this man’s eyes up to see that I was the woman for him. My parents and all my peers would be very disappointed if they knew the truth and what I was really out here doing. I didn’t give a damn because this was the life I chose. At the end of it all, I chose my soon-to-be man Inferno.
“Kenya? You keep doing that spacing-out shit. I don’t got time for it. What’s up with you?” he raised one brow as I snapped out of my thoughts.
“You, umm… getting married?” I was surprised myself. I never really questioned him. I sure as hell didn’t want to make it seem like I was ear-hustling. He said the shit right in front of me. I wanted to know who the bitch was so I could carefully plot a way to kill her ass.
I wasn’t a killer but being around someone like Inferno made me wonder what it would feel like to kill. I wasn’t killing anyone I hope I wasn’t that far gone off this man that I was ready and willing to catch my first body. I picked up my towel and grabbed the dove soap and started to bathe myself. That gave me something to do other than feeling nervous from his hard stare. Inferno had a way of making a person feel really small. I saw the look of irritation cross his eyes and dropped my head, looking at my white toes.
“Nothing to worry about Kenya. It’s business that has nothing to do with you.” I wanted to press him further, that thick deep accent was laced in every word he spoke which indicated to me that I irked him by speaking up on the conversation I heard.
“I got love for you Monroe, as a friend you know that. Don’t ever confuse it and step out of place. Think about what you want to eat. Don’t worry about who I’m marrying because it won’t change shit with you and I.” I swallowed down hard and blinked away the tears.
“This is all we will ever be?” My bottom lip quivered at the reality. I became pissed with myself. I sounded like the woman that was crying on the phone to him earlier. I always tried to appear strong and unbothered by the things Inferno did because I didn’t want him to leave me. I don’t think I could possibly live without him.
“Yes, Kenya. This is all we will ever be. If this is too much for you don’t open the door the next time I knock. I promise you will keep your job and this nice penthouse that I pay for every month. You can even get married and start a family. We will always remain friends. If its my heart that you seek, then stop trying to find it. I’m dead inside when it comes to those things.” He left me in the shower without even turning to see the hurt he had cost me.
Chapter Four
SOVEREIGN AKA QUEEN
Today was F.Y.F.’s meeting day, I had a lot weighing me down and the main thing was thoughts of Abuela. I wanted no part in getting married, after dealing with Melvin and hiding the heartbreak that I suffered from. I didn’t want to dedicate or submit to no nigga. I was my own woman, I stood ten toes down when shit got bad for me, and I never asked for a helping fucking hand. Deep down, I knew I didn’t have a choice. My Abuela was deadly and powerful. When she asked you to do something, it was more like she was telling you. I wasn’t letting what I took years and time to build go down the fucking drain.
I thought of a thousand ways to get out of this so-called arranged marriage shit and came up empty-handed. I needed the money, although I had a good amount now. Compared to what I could’ve had was petty compared to the money my Abuela possessed along with her power. Melvin put me and my crew in the hole. Not only did he lie and play me hard he stole so much fucking money right underneath my nose. The love for him turned into hate easily. He infiltrated my crew and had multiple disloyal people working alongside of him while pledging their allegiance to me.
I hated him so bad I wanted him dead but didn’t want to give him an easy death so the torture I had in place for him ended up failing. I lost money and the daughter that I snatched away from his wife. I ended up loving the little girl with all of my heart. It all backfired and everything started to collapse around me. I still was trying to put the puzzle to the many pieces that was missing when it came to Melvin and my daughter. That night will forever hunt me, it was the reason I didn’t get the proper rest I needed at night.
One main thing that I learned from the situation was to never react so fast off anger. The night I discovered Melvin missing, I went on a rampage of killing, I didn’t ask the questions that needed to be asked that night. Till this day I wondered how he was able to escape along with the baby. I killed anyone that looked guilty and whomever I thought had a hand in it. I often wondered was any of the men still lurking around and where the fuck was Melvin. He was out somewhere just living life right after he betrayed me. I knew my Abuela had the resources that would lead me right to him, I just needed to play my cards right.
I no longer felt like I was playing chess, shit started to feel like a petty tournament of checkers. I had to majorly step my shit up and gain the power I needed to be the rightful queen.
I tried my very best to ease my nerves and thoughts as my soldiers started to walk in. Some had nervous looks while others looked confident. I eyed my sister and shook my head because her eyes were glued to Murk’um. I kept a blank facial expression but was starting to burn up at the thought of her falling for this nigga. Love almost disgusted me, it was for the weak and blinded you from seeing what was supposed to be seen. I made a mental note to have a side conversation with Murk’um.
I didn’t give a fuck about who Empress gave her pussy to, she was a grown-ass woman and so was Murk’um. When it came to my business and running a smooth operation, business mixed with pleasure was a big fuckin’ no. It was either, they stopped whatever the fuck they had going on, or go get down with another crew.
My eyes scanned the room, silence immediately took over. I planned on getting something more sufficient for us to meet up at to go over things for the gang. For now, the back of my clinic had to be where we got down to business at. I had a huge empty room located in the back of my clinic where all equipment and product were held for the estheticians that worked here. It was after hours now, and I had everyone park in the back. I made the crew travel from L.A to Rodeo drive to meet up at Sovereignty’s. I loved my clinic and took pride in it. It gave me something different other than being in the streets.
I had folding chairs all around, it was about fifteen of us here. The only people I let come here were the ones in charge of handing me my money at the end of each week. They were responsible for their own private crews, meaning one fuck up and they took the fall or the bullet.
“Clapback, run the week down to me.” I looked down at my iced-out Rolex watch and clicked my tongue three times to let her know not to ramble and get to the point.
“Money is good like the survival of every nigga in this room.” She smiled and took a small tote from her blunt then passed it to Murk’um.
“Murk’um finish running shit down, I don’t have time for Clapback’s antics.” I took my eyes off her and focused on Murk’um.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” I cracked my neck, Empress had me ready to snap her neck for speaking to me recklessly, especially in front of all my men. Behind closed doors I let her get away with a lot because I was to blame for her being so damn spoiled.
“It means nothing.” I winked at her and gave Murk’um my full attention.
“Like Clapback said Queen, things as far as the money is good, very good. I think we need to up the ante to see more of it. Then we have that constant problem from that so called Syndicate shit. A nigga named Killa been pulling up asking the niggas for a meeting with the head of F.Y.F. He keeps saying his boss wants us to step in line with his syndicate or else we will all get laid down. So far you have two funerals to pay for.” He licked his dry black lips, and I took my eyes off him. Placing my elbows on the rickety folding table, I thought for a couple of seconds. I didn’t want to show my emotions, but I was pissed the fuck off.
I didn’t know who this so-called Syndicate belonged to or why its boss was starting to fuck with me. I didn’t have enough soldiers for a fucking war. War would mean more guns and more bodies dropping. Whenever a loyal soldier got killed it was my duty to bury them. I constantly talked to these niggas about getting life insurance so it would be less out of my pocket. Black people were really stubborn when it came to getting themselves some coverage in case they died. Most felt like it was jinxing themselves. I was about to make that important and a necessity in our next meeting. One of my main niggas sold life insurance so I was about to sit all these niggas down and force them to sign up for the shit.
