I undo the button at my neck. “So far you’ve explained how into me you are, so you’ve succeeded at that.”
He steps closer, hypnotized by my exposed throat. “I… how can I not be? Why are you doing this?” he asks in a breathy voice and places his hand on my chest.
It’s painfully obvious that if I pushed him on the bed now, he’d let me pound him into the mattress all night and only regret his actions in the morning.
He’s confused by all those feelings because he doesn’t have them for my cousin.
Or any other woman.
I smirk at him, stuck in place, because while this is a test, the ugly truth is that I’m enjoying it. Kyle is hot as fuck. From that perfect ass to his needy attitude and lips that haven’t given me a blowjob yet, he’s a damn firecracker.
“I’m not doing anything. I’m just saying that you’re not married yet.”
He takes a deep breath and steps all the way to me. He’s greedy for the touch of a man, I can smell it in the air, but unlike him, I do have enough self-control to follow intention with action. Still, I wait, meeting his soft gaze as he climbs to his toes and presses his lips to mine.
Electricity shuts down many of my brain cells, but as much as I want to grab him, how much I want to see my cock rest on his pink tongue, this concludes my challenge.
I push him away abruptly enough for the dog to let out a little growl.
“The fuck do you think you’re doing?” I stand straighter, trying to shake off the pleasure of kissing the bastard. “Oh, oh, I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know what I was doing,” I mock his earlier words. “And now you’re trying to cheat on my cousin again?”
He takes a deep breath and rubs his face. “Fuck… no, that wasn’t the plan.”
I’m almost sorry for him, because to some degree I get it. If the sex with me was his first time with a man, he probably mistook whatever feelings he has for Madison for love. Being approached by a man shook his understanding of his own sexuality, but if he’s gay, or maybe just not as secure in his feelings, then he shouldn’t be going through with this marriage.
“So what was the plan, huh?” I would have slapped him if it wasn’t for the dog. “You’re not loyal, you were just missing an opportunity. You’re gay. Call off the fucking wedding.”
He stares at me as if I’d stuck a big shard of glass in his heart. “It’s too late.”
“If that is the only reason to go through with it, then you should definitely end things.”
He looks down, defeated. I wonder if shame is what’s stopping him from doing the right thing, or if it’s the prospect of losing out on everything his bride is bringing to the table, from money to being his beard. It ultimately doesn’t matter. What I do know is that this guy should not marry my cousin.
“Don’t tell anyone,” he whispers.
It’s so pathetic I feel sorry for him, and I hate it. As much as it hurt to be dumped by Kayla, she did the right thing. I can’t imagine spending years with her only to later find out she was never into me. Our marriage would have dissolved into nothingness until we divorced anyway. She might not have gone around it the right way, but she spared me.
“I don’t have to out you to make this wedding hell for you,” I say with a sneer, but it feels like kicking a puppy.
“Why?” he demands as if it wasn’t painfully clear already.
“Because you pulled me into your cheating, and I deserve better. I do not fuck married men, other people’s boyfriends, cheaters, or liars. Now I’m forever stuck knowing I fucked my cousin’s fiancé, so if you don’t wanna call it off, you deserve what’s coming. Get out!” I show him the door in case I wasn’t clear enough.
He says nothing, just whistles at his dog, and they both disappear behind the door, leaving me with his warm scent still lingering in the air.
I drop to the bed, grab a pillow and scream into it at the top of my lungs.
Chapter 7
Logan
I have zero interest in cake decoration.
No interest in baking in general either, but if participating in a boring workshop, surrounded by sugar and beautiful women can help me make Kyle’s life miserable, I’m in.
The activity is led by a woman named Leslie, who works at the shop that’s apparently making the wedding cake. The process of baking without store-bought mix wasn’t as dreary as I expected, but I’m happy that the first batch of cupcakes has cooled, because that means we can eat something nice soon.
Though nothing can possibly be sweeter than Kyle’s constantly flushed face. He, I, and the photographer, Holden, are the only men in attendance, and I get the feeling that our presence sowed seeds of rivalry among some of the women taking part in the workshop.
