“Really?”

I rub my thumbs over each of her cheeks. “Yes, really.”

“It doesn’t turn you off?”

I guffaw and rear back like she’s slapped me. “What? No. Of course not.”

She wraps her arms around me, wet skin to wet skin. “I love that you’re living your dream, but I miss you so much.”

I reach up and cup the back of her neck. “I know, baby.” I pepper kisses along her jaw.

“I don’t say that to make you feel guilty or anything. It’s just how I feel.”

“I know,” I say again.

“I’m sorry it took me so long to get my head out of my ass and realize how I feel about you.”

Laughter bursts out of me, but I quickly quiet myself when I remember Rory is technically only a few feet away.

“You needed time,” I remind her.

“You didn’t.”

“But I’m me and you’re you.” God, that sounds fucking cheesy. “You ended a bad, years long relationship, B. It’s understandable that it took you a bit longer to get on board.”

“And you never thought to give up on me?”

“You’re worth the fucking wait.”

I can see a protest forming on her lips, so I cover her mouth with mine. I want to silence any doubts she has about how I feel about her. She pushes against me; her chest pressed firmly to mine.

“Luke,” she practically moans my name. “I want you.”

I kiss down her neck. “Baby, I don’t think we can yet.”

She pulls away just slightly so she can make eye contact with me. “We can. I got the all clear from my doctor last week.”

I gape at her. “A week ago? So, you’ve been thinking about this?”

“Yes.” I rub rivulets of water off her cheeks. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot.”

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You won’t. I promise. Please.”

Hearing her practically beg for me has me wavering. “You have to tell me if anything hurts or doesn’t feel good, okay? You have to be honest with me.”

She nods vigorously. “I will. Promise.”

I try not to let it show, but I’m nervous. She only gave birth seven weeks ago and I’m terrified she’s not as ready for this as she says she is, but I have to trust her.

“Back up,” I command and she does as I say. I drop to my knees, the shower water pelting my back. “Spread those pretty legs, B. Let me eat.”

A small noise escapes her, and she does as she’s told.

I slide my tongue against her tender flesh and she shudders above me. Her hands fall to my shoulders, holding on. “Oh, God.” She bites her bottom lip as she looks down at me. “I think it’s just because it’s been so long, but I’m so sensitive.”

“Tell me if it’s too much,” I remind her. “I want to make you feel good.”
