“Sure does, baby. The title on the box was ‘vibrating and knotting’ dildo.”
“Huh,” Milo breathed, before shouting loudly when Rowan turned up the vibration.
The angle was a little awkward, but Rowan was able to build up a steady rhythm. Milo did their best to stay still and not dislodge the toy, even as their body was racked with sobs.
Rowan wasn’t one to judge someone for how they reacted to physical stimulus. If this was how Milo processed pleasure, that was fine by him. His hawk was concerned, though. He fluttered around in Rowan’s mind and finally let out a loud kee-aww.
“Still good, baby?” Rowan asked, just to shut up his bird.
“N-not,” Milo whimpered, and Rowan stilled.
“Not good?”
Milo whined and pressed back against the toy. “Need your knot—please!”
Rowan’s hawk flapped his wings one more time before settling down, apparently satisfied with that answer.
Rowan ran his thumb along the base of the toy until he found the second button. “Ready?”
“Ready,” Milo whispered back.
Rowan pressed the button and held the toy still as the knot inflated up the shaft. It bumped against Milo’s hole, and together Rowan pressed forward, and Milo bore down, and it popped through the tight ring of muscle.
“Fu—uck,” Milo gasped. “S-so, so big. Oh, gods, so much. I’m…so…”
Milo’s entire body tensed and then arched as they let out a silent scream. Rowan followed some baser instinct and began thrusting, dragging the knot along Milo’s inner walls.
Watching Milo come apart was not only humbling but also a sharp reminder that they had so much more to learn about each other. The past two times Milo had come had been quick and sharp, just like their wit and attitude.
This time was different. They cried out softly, their hips stuttering over and over as they rode out the waves of their release. When their hips stilled, they continued to cry, soft and low.
Rowan switched off the vibration, and with a gush of breath, Milo fell still, their shoulders relaxing and head tipping forward off the pillow. As he reached for the knot button, his hawk kee-awwed at him in warning.
He waited, silently watching until Milo’s breathing evened out. Taking extra care not to jostle the bed or the toy, Rowan leaned over and found Milo’s eyes closed and face slack.
His hawk gave a proud trill and flapped his wings, dislodging a slew of feathers.
Rowan would need to spend a fair amount of time the rest of the weekend shifted. His skin was beginning to itch as his poor hawk’s molting worsened.
For right now, though, he was content just watching his fated mate as they fell into what he hoped was a restful sleep.

Milo
Milo stared down at their phone, reading Ray’s text for a second and then a third time in hopes that maybe that would make the words stick.
Ray: I don’t think it’s weird at all to cry during sex, especially not given everything you have going on right now. Sex releases endorphins, and I think it can also shake loose a lot of feelings. As long as you and Rowan are okay with it, you’re totally fine.
Milo’s pony snorted, tossing their head as Milo huddled a little farther under the blanket they’d brought out to the front porch. They ran their thumb over Ray’s second text, and their pony flicked their tail.
Ray: I am glad you emailed that counselor, though.
They couldn’t take credit for that—at least, not entirely. They’d woken up that morning with a sore ass and a head so full of fog, they couldn’t tell which way was up. In a fit of desperation, their pony had spurred them to grab their phone and email the grief counselor to see if there was any way she could fit them in that week.
