“Shit,” Austin muttered. “One sec.”
He inserted the code again. His index finger fell off the eight and onto the seven. Another red.
“Fuck,” Austin hissed.
Dominic stepped up and pressed the code in seamlessly. His hands were steady. Practiced. Austin thought back to that night Domnic helped him home when he was apocalyptically wasted, remembering how longingly he’d watched Dominic’s hands as he pushed the door code in.
He’d wanted him so badly that night. Now he was finally getting him.
The door light went green. Austin wrenched the door open and stumbled inside, not even turning to nod at Hatter as he drove away.
“Can I touch myself now?” he blurted. “Come on, man. I’m dying here.”
Dominic closed the door behind him. Leisurely, like he had all the time in the world. If Austin weren’t busy staring at the line of his neck, he’d think he was a bastard.
Dominic turned to Austin and undid the top button of his shirt. That was it: just the top button. Enough to expose a tantalizing thatch of dark hair at the top of his chest. Austin’s mouth watered as he stared at it.
“Don’t call me man when we do this,” Dominic said.
The words sent a fissure of heat through Austin’s gut. How many times were they going to do this?
“Okay,” Austin said uncertainly. Then, like he always did when he was nervous, he fell back to being snarky. “What am I calling you, then? Sir?”
Dominic’s dark eyes gleamed. “For a start.”
Austin choked on his own spit. That word never appeared in his fantasies, but suddenly the idea of it made him pulse precome into his silk boxers.
“Can I touch myself?” he said before pausing to gather himself. “...Sir?”
“No,” Dominic said instantly. “You disobeyed.”
He walked toward the living room. Austin followed, incredulous, barely able to keep himself from tripping over his own dumb feet.
“I disobeyed a rule I didn’t know existed,” he argued. “And it’s not like I jerked off! I just, you know— Squeezed while I adjusted. Everybody does that!”
“Only good boys get rewards,” Dominic replied.
Austin wanted to laugh. But he also wanted to get on his knees and do whatever the fuck Dominic wanted until he got some relief. He put his hands in his pockets and sauntered up, just how he would to anyone else he was seducing.
“Can I make it up to you?” he asked.
Dominic said nothing. He folded his arms, and Austin couldn’t help but feel as if he’d picked the wrong option in a video game. It took him a moment to realize that playing this as he normally played it—like he was the one in control—would feel weird no matter what.
Giving up control felt weird, too. But he craved it so bad he could taste it.
“Can I make it up to you…?” Dominic said, trailing off pointedly.
“Sir,” Austin said, wanting to smack himself for forgetting so fast. “Can I make it up to you, sir?”
He said it half-jokingly. He couldn’t make himself stop. He wanted to be earnest—he got the feeling Dominic wanted him to drop the jokes—but he wasn’t about to drop his last defense mechanism. Dominic would have to work for it.
Dominic leaned over to the couch and picked up a cushion, dropping it at his feet.
“Kneel,” he said.
Austin ignored the thrill that zapped up his spine and got down on his knees. He couldn’t help looking up at Dominic wryly.
“A cushion?” he asked as he settled onto it. “Really?”
