“And you’re in hell with me,” Nina teased breathlessly, climbing down from me.

Swiftly, she freed my arms and kissed my wrists tenderly. Instantly, when given the chance, I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her to my chest, a lazy smile lifting my mouth when she gasped.

“Don’t fight, ma vilaine,” I mumbled against her neck, inhaling the scent of her hair, perfume, sweat, and sex into my lungs.

“I’m still ugly?” She sounded genuinely offended, and I chuckled sleepily.

“You’re still the villain.”

The sun cutting through the gap in the curtains woke me from a beautiful dream. Nina was pressed against my side, one leg tangled between mine, and her calm face rested against my chest.

For the first time in years, reality felt more appealing than dreamland. Tenderly, I kissed her forehead, relishing her beauty and enjoying the peace that settled in my chest before I had to ruin the moment.

Malin had given me a deadline. Zyon left with Valeria to celebrate her birthday in private and should return on Sunday. The meeting was already scheduled.

“Please,” I whispered against her hair, brushing her naked back with my fingertips. “Don’t be an enemy.”

Fear tightened my stomach at the thought. Since building his happy little family, Zyon became obsessed with security, and even a hint of suspicion sent people to their graves. Malin stopped leaving bodies across the city and somehow became the more reasonable one. Still, neither of them would hesitate to erase Nina from existence if she were a threat.

“I’m not your enemy,” Nina muttered, lifting her head to look at me. In the gentle light, she looked like an innocent, beautiful, harmless young woman completely smitten by me. But the only truth about her was that she was crazy obsessed, possessive, and deadly. The best combination ever.

“Do you think Zyon will believe you?” I asked, hating myself for ruining our first morning together. Or afternoon, because the clock on the nightstand showed 1:33 pm.

“Do I have any other choice than to persuade him?” she countered, leaning closer. “Anyway, good morning.”

She pecked my lips and hopped off the bed. Naked, she walked to the window and opened the curtains, letting the sun in. Shamelessly, I stared at her long legs, mouthwatering, round ass, and a tattoo that started at her lower back and disappeared under her long hair.

“You’re drooling.” She glanced at me over her shoulder, a seductive smile stretching her tempting lips.

“And who can blame me?” I shrugged, folding an arm behind my head and leaning into the pillows.

“Don’t get too comfortable, handsome.” She turned around, my gaze instantly landing on her perfectly shaped breasts that literally screamed to be worshiped.

“Hey!” Her fingers snapped loudly, forcing me to look into her face. “I’m talking to you, husband.” I had no idea what she had said before because my brain malfunctioned as I stared at two delectable globes, but thankfully, she repeated it. “I’m hungry.”

“Well,” I yawned, stretching on the bed, “you’re the wife. Don’t you know how to cook?”

She looked at me as if I had completely lost my mind.

“You think I cut vegetables with these?” She showed off her nails proudly, smiling dreamily as she admired their reflection. My chest clenched with jealousy. That look was mine!

“I prefer cutting people, ma vilaine.” I wiggled my eyebrows, satisfied that she'd averted her gaze from her hands and instead gaped at me in fake shock. “So what are we going to do?”

“You’re the man in the house.” She threw her hair over her shoulder theatrically, heading into the bathroom. “Deal with it!”

The door slammed behind her, making me laugh out loud at her antics. Warmth spread through my stomach, and a wide grin settled on my face as I ordered half the restaurant.

“Are we throwing a party?” Nina entered the kitchen an hour later, after her long beauty bath and skin routine, dressed in my yellow T-shirt that covered her from head to knees. She looked adorable, and my cock twitched at the memory of what was hidden under the thin fabric.

“You said you were hungry.” I lifted a shoulder, handing her a plate. “Pick your poison.”

She stared at the packs with ribs, burgers, chicken breasts, fries, fried vegetables, Caesar salad, garlic bread, and two boxes of pepperoni pizza. I took my chances with junk food. Everyone loved junk food…

“Baby, I’m vegan,” Nina said with a perfectly straight face. “And gluten- and lactose-intolerant.”

I froze. The burger halfway to my mouth slowly lowered.

“You what?” I asked, unsure that I’d heard her correctly.
