He looked off to the dance floor. “I spent over forty years trying to fit in with the human world. I used my powers as best I could to fight, but once I found the rest of the Kith…” He trailed off.

“How’d you find them?” The change of subject was a good thing. It gave me something else to think about. And with the privacy bubble, I could watch the dancers and listen to him without concentrating on the way his lips moved when he spoke.

“I was on a mission with the Navy and got shot up in some remote Indonesian hellhole. I got hit in the chest and fell into a muddy river. Another half Demon felt me using my telepathy to hide from the enemy, found me, and pulled me to safety. He did what he could to heal me then brought me here. I’ve never left.”

“Ever?” My body had eased back just enough that I could at least carry on an adult conversation.

“I go out on missions. Some of them are longer than others, but I live here. I don’t have to hide who or what I am.” He turned and looked into my eyes. “You don’t either.”

I blushed again. His eyes were mesmerizing, all that silver so welcoming, so hot. He winked again. “Okay, Keena. Time to dance.” He held out a hand. I looked at it.

“I really can’t.” I felt the heat rising in me again at the thought of touching the big, strong hand before me. I wasn’t sure I could control my body if it got much closer to his.

“Trust me.” He took my hand off my beer and stood, pulling me to the floor. Just enough room for us opened up. The music blared again after he’d stood and broken the bubble. The current song had a beat that was slow and churning. Jordan pulled me up against his body and wrapped one arm around my waist. He bent his knees enough that our hips met, one of his thick legs slipping between mine. I put one hand on his chest and let the other fall to my side to match his free arm. His hips started to sway with the music. He was looking down, watching the way our bodies moved together.

His attention was completely on where our bodies met. I was watching his face in an attempt to lessen the effect his swaying hips were having on my senses.

I slowly let my gaze move down. He was wearing a black silk shirt tucked into tight black jeans. We were a melding of black on black, moving as one.

The heat started to rise in the club and in my mind. He moved us together so perfectly. I could feel his growing erection against my crotch and the tenseness of his thighs as he crouched low to fit his leg between mine. He pulled me tighter against him.

My head fell back at the feel of our bodies so connected. I closed my eyes and let the sound of the bass thumping through the air move through me. The rocking got more intense, sending my head swaying back and forth in time with his arousing movements. His right hand covered the entire expanse of my back and was softly kneading my skin. He put his free hand on my middle, fingers splayed across my stomach, and I felt his magic come through his touch. It lit me up. My magic responded immediately. I was wet and wanton, my pulse too strong. I distantly realized several songs must have passed but I heard nothing, felt nothing but his touch…

I pushed against him to get some distance from his cock. My body was screaming to stay close, to take him. My mind was running scared in the night. I used both hands this time, trying to push away.

He leaned close and stopped dancing. “Keena, are you frightened of me?” I could easily see the distress etched on his jaw. “I didn’t mean to scare you.” He let me pull away from him and wrapped his arm around mine to lead me back to the table.

The coolness of the beer was not helping. The pounding thump of the bass vibrated through me. He was too close. I couldn’t fight the surging need that I was experiencing, the wetness in places that were screaming for his touch. All of it was out of my control.

“I’m really sorry, Keena. I feel your need.” He had leaned in close to my ear, touched my hand.

I couldn’t stand it anymore. I hopped from the high barstool and fought through the pressing crowd. The bodies all touching mine only inflamed the need.

CHAPTER 27

Once outside, I kicked off the boots and did the only thing I knew to douse the fire Jordon’s heat had stoked to an absolute inferno. I headed to the woods and ran back to the manor, taking the long way through the forest and into my chambers through the open French doors.

I fell onto the bed. My body was still burning with the need. The run did nothing to sate the demands my powers were making of me. I stripped off my clothes to fulfill myself. I ran my fingers over the swollen flesh of my pussy. Hard, determined strokes did nothing to ease the rampant lust. My clit was throbbing, my nipples tight and warm, and nothing but Jordan’s touch would quench this. My own touches were doing nothing to take the edge off. I saw Jordan in my mind, pictured him with me, on me, touching me, fucking me. The aching intensified.

I rolled myself in the down spread and felt my body quiver with need. I had never felt so alone, so out of control.

“Priestess?” Jordan’s voice was low and beckoning.

I sprang up to my knees and made sure I was covered. “What do you want?” I hated being so out of control. I always had, and this was the most out of control I had ever been. My own body was running rampant with no inclination to respond to what my head had to say.

“I…you called to me. In my mind.” His stern face looked angry in the moonlight. I had been fantasizing about him. I must have dropped my barrier to his mind reading.

“Arrgg,” I growled. “I hate being this out of control.” I fell back on the bed, glared at the ceiling.

I heard a thump. “I brought your boots. I’ll go.” He started to leave. “Keena, you’ll have to follow your nature at some point.”

“I just wish I had more control over this crap.” I clung to the covers for comfort.

“You have all the control you want over it.” He stood motionless in the doorway, trying not to be so big, so overpowering, and doing a very bad job of it. His silk shirt shimmered in the moonlight, highlighting the shape of his shoulders and chest. I had to look away.

“Just how is this supposed to be control? I turn into a fire-eating dragon every time I’m around you.”

His eyebrows rose. “Dragon?” He shook his head. “Do you have this reaction to all men?”
