"WE?"
"Didn't I tell you, you were my woman now. What's mine is yours."
I narrowed my eyes at him. He chuckled before kissing me again causing my thoughts to leave my head. "Hurry up and finish packing."
“You the one distracting me.”
“And I’ll distract you again if you don’t hurry up.”
I pushed him away before I ended up bent over the bed. “Go put on some clothes.” Ace dropped his towel. I looked down and shook my head. “You're so childish.”
He winked, “you like it.”
“I’ve seen it before.”
“And you keep coming back.”
I threw one of his shirts at him. “Get dressed.” He chuckled and finally left me alone.
Ace’s phone rang while he was getting dressed. He answered the FaceTime call, and a woman appeared on the screen. “What, Alice?”
“Why you answering the phone with an attitude?”
“I don’t have an attitude.”
She looked past him and spotted me. “Wait who is that?”
Ace moved the phone so she could see me. “Alice this is my girlfriend, Kema.”
“Kema? The Kema you had a crush on? Lemme see.”
Ace tried to turn the phone, but I walked over and leaned into the camera. “Hey, girl.”
“Hey! This man has been talking about you for years.”
I chuckled. “Oh, girl, we gone become good friends. What else he say?”
“Alice,” Ace warned.
“He used to—” Ace grabbed the phone from me. “I’ll call you back.” He ended the call while all three of us were laughing.
“You told your sister about the crush you had on me?” I asked.
“Get your purse, Kema.”
I smiled as I followed him out of the room.
When we made it downstairs, the rest of the wedding party was in the lobby saying their goodbyes. Sierra and Stephen were talking about Jamaica with her sister, Serenity.
All week, Serenity had looked like she was in a different headspace. I hadn’t taken the time to check on her because I had been too focused on my own shit. Now I felt bad. Sisi was like a sister to me, so an extension of that sisterhood was Serenity. Their family became my family when I met Sisi. I walked over and touched Serenity’s arm. “You good?”
She looked at me like she'd seen a ghost. “Yeah. Why?”
“You haven’t seemed like yourself all week.”
“I’m fine. I just have some stuff on my mind.”
“I'm here if you need me, Ren."
