Gideon felt the brush of Nadia’s hand on his arm as she stepped up next to him, his skin tingling in response to her.

Her smile was warm as she spoke. “She loves to rile him up.”

“I watch it to relax me.”

Gideon watched the leader of this fearless team blush a little.

Lotus smirked as she checked her nails. “Uh-huh.”

“What the fuck does ‘uh-huh’ mean?”

“Nothing. I just know a certain someone loves that show.”

“To be fair, Lotus, that isn’t narrowing it down. Snow loves that show and so does Watchdog, not just Valentina.”

Gideon gazed down at Nadia as she joined in with giving their boss shit.

“Who the fuck are these people?” Damon asked from beside him.

“The people who are going to save our ass and give us our lives back.”

“I’m not having this conversation with you bunch of assholes, so pipe down.”

“Fine but when you start piping flowers onto fairy cakes, we’re having an intervention, boss man.”

Bás pointed a finger at Lotus who looked totally unaffected by the glare he was giving her, in fact, she looked like she was enjoying pushing him. “You are a pain in my ass.”

“Ah, thanks, boss. I love you too.”

Bás shook his head and put his hands on his hips. “What the fuck did I do to deserve this shit?”

“You love us really.”

“The fuck I do. Now, if we’re finished can we focus? Gideon needs to make this call and we need to do recon and find out who sent that shooter after Gideon.”

“Surely it’s Carter?” Gideon was surprised there was even a doubt.

“We don’t think so. He’d have nothing to gain by killing you.”

Gideon felt his gut tighten. “Then who?”

“We think it’s Marsha.”

“Fuck.”

“Yeah, but let’s make the call and get the ball rolling. We want you to meet with him in your office and tell him you want in on this deal.”

“If he says no?”

“He won’t. The thought of corrupting you will play into his power games and he won’t be able to resist. You can compound it by saying you and Damon are coming to the party and you want the family to work together. Make out you have financial issues.”

“He’ll check.”

“And he’ll find that the business, your apartment, and everything you own is mortgaged to the eyeballs.”

Gideon felt his jaw fall before he gritted it. “Let me guess, the genius guy hacked my accounts?”

“Yeah, but don’t worry, we’ll give it back….” Lotus smirked at him. “Probably.”
