“She’s so beautiful, Bish.” Snow, who looked like she was ready to drop her own bundle of joy any second, kissed his cheek.
“This will be you soon.”
Sebastian wrapped his arm around his petite wife and kissed her head. “Two weeks until the due date.”
“I need this baby out now. I can’t see my feet.”
“How is Charlie doing?”
Watchdog and Charlie had become close, like siblings in some ways and she’d spent a lot of time with him during her pregnancy while he was on jobs and he’d been glad of it. “She was amazing. So calm and brave. She’s tired but I guess that’s our new normal for a while.”
Lotus grinned. “Put me down for babysitting when you need a break.”
“Yep, me too,” Val added.
“I’m not offering my services for nappies, but I’ll help with cooking or whatever other shit you need,” Titan offered as the others joined in, not wanting to be left out.
“Thank you, guys, that means a lot to us.”
Bás rested a hand on Bishop’s shoulder. “You’re family and so is she, and we look after family.”
Bishop nodded because he couldn’t speak past the lump in his throat. These men and women had saved him in his darkest hour and continued to be there every minute of the day.
“We should let you get back to Charlie.” Duchess stroked a finger over Iris’ blanket-covered feet. “Do you need us to do anything at your place before you come home?”
They’d bought a house in the village, one that Miss Rose, who’d predicted he’d need to forgive before he could move on, had suggested. She’d turned up at the Mountain Rescue Centre and told him she needed a lift and had taken him to a house just outside the village. It was a 1930s property with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a large garden and driveway. It had needed remodelling but nothing huge and he’d fallen in love with the property.
Lucky for him so had Charlie and they’d bought it and renovated it and had moved in just last month. It was home, where he and Charlie would raise their family and if Miss Rose was right, more children in the future.
“How are you at building a crib?”
“I can do that,” Hurricane said with a wink.
“Thanks, man.”
“Of course.”
Making his way back to Charlie he found her fast asleep in the huge bed. Placing Iris in her bassinet, he pulled the blanket over her tiny body and climbed in beside Charlie. Adjusting her so she was in his arms, he kissed her as she startled awake.
“Iris?”
“Is fast asleep.”
His hands moved over her settling her worries as she sagged against him again. “I thought it was a dream.”
“No, she’s not a dream. Well, she is, but not like that.”
Charlie nestled into his arms but they both kept their eyes on the crib which held their entire world. “What did the guys say?”
“Let’s just say our daughter has stolen more than just our hearts today. I have a feeling she has a bunch of protective uncles willing to go to jail to protect her from any punks who mess with her.”
“Ha, I’d be more scared of all those aunts if I was any boyfriend.”
“Argh, no. Don’t say the word boyfriend. She’s going to join a nunnery.”
“Yeah, good luck with that, Noah.”
“I love her so much.”
