Omega held her upright as another pain hit and the front door burst open. He held onto Rose as Dax and Cruz rushed into the room.

“What the hell is happening?”

Cruz looked more rattled than Omega had ever seen him and was shocked at his own calm. “Rose’s water broke and she’s having contractions. We need to get her up to the hospital. Can you grab her bag from the bottom of her closet please? It’s all packed.”

Cruz left like he was being chased by rabid dogs.

“What can I do?” Dax looked calm, if a little worried.

“Can you bring my truck onto the drive as close as you can?” He handed off the keys to Dax.

Rose blew out her last breath and stood upright again. “I’m in labor.”

“Yep, you are. You get to meet your son soon.”

A look of complete and utter love the likes he’d never seen came over her face. “I’m scared, Aide.”

Her honesty floored him and made him want to take away all her worries and pain, but he knew he couldn’t do any of that for her. He was completely helpless, and he hated it. “You’re gonna do great. You know your breathing techniques and you have a plan.”

“Will you stay with me?”

She hadn’t asked him to be with her for the birth and he hadn’t offered, not sure if it was overstepping the bounds. “As long as you need me, I’ll be right beside you.”

“I need you.”

“Then I’ll be there.”

Cruz came thundering down the stairs as the front door opened and Dax walked back inside. “I got your bag.”

Omega took the bag from Cruz. “Can you give us a sec while I help Rose change into dry clothes?”

Both men were outside before he could finish the sentence. He helped Rose change into a long, loose, cotton dress, stopping when another contraction hit and noting they were pretty close together.

Dax and Cruz were both on the phone when he got Rose outside. He locked up after getting her in his truck and knew his friends would spread the word to those that needed to know.

At the hospital they were met by Rose’s doctor after he’d called to give her the heads up.

“Well, it seems this little one is in a hurry to meet his mama.”

“Is it too soon?”

Omega could hear the worry in her voice for her son and was glad when the doctor reassured her it was perfectly fine at thirty-seven weeks to go into labor.

Once they were settled in her room, he gave her some privacy while they checked her over and went and grabbed a coffee.

He was thankful for the moment to himself so he could have his own mental freak out. Omega wasn’t a man who liked to see anyone in pain. Seeing someone he cared about as much as he did Rose in so much pain was awful. He knew he’d take it from her in a heartbeat if he could but that wasn’t an option, so he just had to be there for whatever she needed.

He stopped and got her some snacks she liked and some ice chips. Women were meant to like that, or so he’d read. Armed, he went back in the room to see Rose looking much more relaxed even though she was hooked up to monitors, one on her arm and bands around her belly.

“How you doing?”

“Hanging in there. I thought you’d made a bid for freedom while I was busy.”

Omega frowned and moved swiftly to the bed, taking her free hand as he dropped the bag. “No, never. I said I’d be here, and I will be. Nothing is going to drag me away. I’m where I want to be.”

She gripped his hand tight and he knew she was frightened. “I’m glad you’re here.”

“Have they said how far along you are?”
