Chapter 16
Clay slid into bed behind Hattie, feeling exhaustion snapping at him, and pulled her gently into his arms. Even in sleep, her body knew him, her leg instantly hooking over his thighs and her head resting against his chest. He kissed her head, feeling more connected and at ease than he had all day.
“Go back to sleep.”
“Love you.” She mumbled, hardly even awake as she settled back down and was soon asleep again.
Clay let her words soothe him as they melted over him. Today had been crazy and at two am when he saw the entire team was flagging, he sent them home to catch some shut-eye. Despite his demand that nobody went home until they caught Malone Clark, he knew a team surviving on fumes was no good to him. They needed to be able to focus, and a few hours’ sleep would help.
Turning his brain off was more challenging than he expected. He had so many things he needed to do, including talking to Dr. Rawley and finding out why he’d called Hattie in when they didn’t require her. Closing his eyes, he tried to shut off his mind knowing Hattie was safe for now.
He woke when Hattie moved to get up and stopped her with a hand on her back.
Her head swung to look at him, and the expression on her face was filled with so much love it floored him to think how lucky he was. “Hey, handsome. Happy Thanksgiving.” She bent close, and he caught her nape with his hand, bringing her close.
“Happy Thanksgiving, gorgeous.” He took her mouth in a quick kiss, knowing she’d want to brush her teeth as she always did.
Her fingers brushed over the skin of his cheeks under his eyes. “You looked tired, Clay.”
He lay back on the bed, his arm over his head. “I am.”
“Wanna take a shower with me and see if I can wake you up?”
Clay felt his body respond to her words before his brain caught up, his dick already hard from her kiss. Jumping up and grabbing her about the waist, he ran for the bathroom as she shrieked with laughter. “Hell yes, I do.”
“Clay, put me down. You’ll wake your sister and Reid.”
Clay placed her down in the bathroom and closed the door, before dropping his boxers and lifting her top over her head.
“God, you’re a vision.”
“Clay.” Her head dipped, and he loved the blush on her face and the husky tone of her voice as she admired his body.
“I need you, Hattie.”
“Then take me.”
Just that simple, she was giving him everything he needed.
“I don’t want to hurt you, and I’m hanging on by a thread already.”
Hattie put her hand over his hard cock, and he groaned as she stroked him with a firm up and down motion. “I’m not made of glass, Clay. Now fuck me.”
Pulling her hand away, he spun her around, so she faced the mirror. “Hold onto the sink and don’t let go.”
Her eyes met his in the glass, and he saw her bite her lip and thought he might come just from that sight alone. He looked away, his hand moving up and down her spine before smoothing over the soft skin of her ass. Running a finger lower, he dipped his hand between her legs and found her wet for him already.
“You turned on, Hattie?”
Her answer was to nod as he speared his fingers inside her before pulling them out and rubbing them over her clit until she went up on her tiptoes and threw her head back. The action forced her perfect tits up, and he could see them in the mirror she faced.
Using her wetness, he coated his dick and realized he had no condom with him. “Fuck, condom.”
“I’m on the pill.”
His eyes met hers, and he understood the gift she was giving him. “I’m clean, gorgeous, never been ungloved and I have regular physicals because of my job.”
“Me too.”
