“Is that any way to talk to the man who just saved your ass from being raped and murdered?”

“I was fine. I was assessing the situation to decide the best way to get my sister out.”

“Is that right? And don’t tell me you let us sneak up on you because you knew we were there.” He snorted with derision.

“Well, maybe not but I can handle myself with those guys.”

“Get real, sweetheart, they would have caught you, and then you and your sister would be getting raped and sold,” said the driver.

“Tone it down, Alex,” said Mr Tattoo.

Alex threw him a glare in the rear-view mirror. “All I’m saying is you shouldn’t be doing this alone.”

“I’m not now am I, because you’re going to help me,” she demanded.

“No way!” Jack said coldly.

“Yes, way or I’m going to ask Will for help.”

“Wow, you are a real bitch,” Jack replied.

“No, but like you, I’ll do anything to save my sister.”

Aubrey watched as Jack looked out the window as they hit a dirt track that some would call a road and drove through what could be classed as a small village.

“Fine, but on one condition.”

“Name it.”

“Stay away from Will. He likes you, and despite our differences, I don’t want to see him hurt.”

“Done. I have no intention of hurting Will,” she said with a knot in her belly because even though she had decided Will was too much of a risk for her heart, closing the door on a man like Will Granger was hard to do.

“Oh, and by the way,” Jack started as he looked at her with annoyance, “your sister was picked up by Chopper’s men just after we picked you up.” His tone was dismissive as he looked away.

Aubrey said nothing, her pride wouldn’t let her. She was however very thankful that she had secured their help, even at such a high cost. They drove the rest of the way in silence until they reached a small motel.

Mr Tattoo who had introduced himself as Reid cut the ties at her wrists before they stopped. “He isn’t as big an asshole as he pretends,” he said and grinned.

Aubrey raised her brow in surprise. “Yes, he is, but it isn’t my problem. I just want Madison safe, so I can go back to my life and try and pretend this didn’t happen.”

“Fair enough.”

Aubrey followed the men as they made their way towards the first floor. The motel was clean and small with bright green walls that almost made her vomit such was the contrast with the orange striped carpet.

“You can sleep in here. Blake will be outside the door, and we’ll be next door if you want anything,” Reid said as Jack and Alex disappeared through the door next to her.

“Thanks,” she said and went to turn but stopped. “Reid,” she called, and he stopped turning to look at her his piercing baby blue eyes assessing her.

“Yes?”

“Will, is he okay?” she asked wanting to hear that the man she couldn’t stop thinking about was safe.

Reid smiled, and the action crinkled the corners of his eyes. “He is for now, but I’m not sure that will last when Jack gets hold of him,” he chuckled.

“Oh, I see,” she replied.

“Not sure you do, sweetheart, but okay. Holler if you need anything,” he said, and with that, he left with a nod to Blake.
