“Do we know who set the bomb?” Zin asked.

“Yes, CCTV shows it was Camila Perez,” said Zack.

“That makes no sense. Why would she kill the guy she professes to love?” asked Will.

“Because, her uncle told her that Flowers had been flirting with Aubrey when he held her captive, and Camila Perez was as nutty as they came,” replied Roz.

“How do you know this?” Jack asked suspiciously.

“Ask me no questions, and I’ll tell you no lies,” she smirked proving the truce was over between Eidolon and Zenobi.

“That doesn’t answer the question about why Flowers was beaten and why she was with Chopper,” Zack said with a frown.

“Actually, it does. Camila thought she had been betrayed and had two of her uncle’s men beat Flowers for his betrayal, but Chopper was never aware of that so when she begged him to take her to the UK, he felt responsible for her and believed she and his brother were together still,” Roz finished. Nobody bothered asking how she knew this time, they just accepted it.

“So, are we going to address the elephant in the room?” Kanan asked.

“You mean the fact that bullets were pinging off the building instead of going through?” Jace asked.

“Yeah,” K replied.

Will stayed silent. He had nothing. He had given the CCTV to Zack and had watched it a hundred times while he waited at the hospital and still, he had no clue how it had happened or indeed what had happened.

“Looks like someone has an ability they aren’t owning up to or don’t know about,” Zack said carefully giving anyone that wanted it the time to speak up.

“I actually have a theory about this,” said Jace turning to Will. “Can you pull the footage up for us?”

“Sure,” Will said sitting up straighter and pulling his laptop towards him. He keyed up the footage and hit play. They could all see as the shooting began and people dove for cover as Fortis and Eidolon returned fire.

“Now slow it here,” Jace said as Daniel walked towards the doors after speaking to him and Jace. “Watch what happens here,” he said pointing to where Lucy, Megan, and Lizzie were huddled together. In slow motion he watched the girls grip each other’s hands forming a perfect circle. As the circle was made, the bullets stopped at the exact same moment.

“See it,” Jace asked looking up.

“Are you saying that when Lucy, Meg, and Lizzie touch they form some sort of force field?” Will asked carefully, his mind not quite taking it in.

“I’m not saying anything, I just know that when they’re together and touch, something always happens.”

“But none of us have any gifts,” said Lucy slowly.

Jace turned to her. “I know but remember the prophecy the Divine Crazies were talking about? It spoke of the Divine sisters,” he finished as he took her hand.

“And you think that’s us?” she asked incredulously.

“Maybe, why not? It all fits, and there’s one way to find out. We do an experiment to see if it happens again.”

“Um I’m not sure, let me talk to Megan and Lizzie first.”

“Of course,” Jace finished.

“If this is the case, it’s big news. But it can all wait until next year. I for one am done with crazy people trying to kill us. I want to go home and get ready for the party and bring this New Year in, in style,” said Zack as he looked around the room.

“Hoofuckingya,” said Daniel standing. “See you later.” And with that, he was gone as the others started to follow his lead.

Will turned to Jack. “Can I catch a lift to the hospital?”

“Sure, I’m going to see Liam anyway. Hopefully, none of the nurses have strangled or neutered him before I get there,” he said with a frown.

“Lighten up, bro, it’s time to down a few drinks, break out the funky chicken dance moves, and enjoy yourself.”
