“Thank you, Will. You are a good man, and I won’t forget this.”

“Just be ready,” Will said, then made his way to the door without a backwards glance.

Reaching the outside, he had to push past two men with semiautomatic weapons thrown over their shoulders like it was a fucking fashion accessory. Seeing the cab still there at the curb he almost sighed in relief.

“Thank you for waiting,” he said, and the driver nodded and hit the gas before Will was even properly inside.

The driver just shook his head in the mirror and drove, and Will didn’t relax until he saw the streets of Cali coming back into view.

Pierre had gotten himself involved with the head of security and second in command for one of the most feared drug lords in the world and definitely in Colombia. Santiago Rojas was an icon here and was feared and revered in equal measure.

What Will couldn’t understand was why Camila was working in a dive like La Cantina. Her uncle was rich beyond measure in his own right, and surely his niece should not be working and living like she did.

He needed to do some research and find out more about the family dynamic and then find out what Pierre wasn’t telling him because he had little doubt that Pierre had left out a shit tonne of information. But he was a good guy, and Will would help him out if he could. He needed to talk to Jack first though.

Chapter 6

Aubrey looked up at the luxury hotel as they pulled into the car park at the rear. She had managed to get a few hours rest, but in truth, she was tired to her bones still. A hot shower and some food had helped but worry for Madison had her playing over every bad scenario in her head, and with the predicament she was in, there were many.

Which only made her feel angry and then guilt for feeling anger that her sister had no thought for anyone but herself when she went and did the things she did, always relying on Aubrey to fix things. Madison had always been a free spirit and losing their parents at such an impressionable age had seemed to cement them in their childhood roles.

Aubrey knew she would forever feel responsible for her parent’s deaths and looking out for Madison was something she would not fail at—no matter what. The guilt that plagued her only seemed to abate when a certain tattooed geek was around which was why she couldn’t let him take what was left of her heart.

Just the thought of Will being so close made her feel giddy like a school girl. The flutters in her tummy, the excitement. What she wouldn’t give to let that feeling have full reign, but she was here to get Madison to safety, and that was what she needed to concentrate on.

They exited the vehicles and Aubrey followed the men closely as they grabbed a bag each, and with Alex at her side and Blake and Reid following them, she stayed behind Jack as he walked to the reception desk.

The hotel was large and airy, with big potted plants, white marble floors, and high ceilings that gave the feeling of openness that she loved. Aubrey loved her surroundings to be open and large, light and inviting. The exact opposite of Will Granger with his dark clothes and his secrets.

“We have some rooms booked,” Jack said to the man on reception who looked at them with curious eyes.

“Yes, you have rooms on the top floor,” he said handing out cards and room numbers.

Jack turned and gave cards to Alex, Reid, and Blake before moving to the bank of elevators.

“Hey what about me?” she asked, her temper beginning to rise. Jack was a complicated man, to say the least, and she could totally see why he and Will got into fights. They were like chalk and cheese.

He turned to look at her over his shoulder, his sharp assessing gaze on her. “Here, it’s the one next to Alex,” he said handing her the keycard.

“Thank you,” she said sharply as she went to take it, but Jack held onto it.

“Don’t think about disappearing or next time I’ll leave you to rot in the jungle,” he said coldly.

God, why are the handsome ones such assholes? she thought as she rolled her eyes and yanked the keycard from him. “Don’t worry, I won’t be going anywhere until my sister is safe,” she bit out.

“Fine,” Jack said and nodded to Alex as he moved away from the elevators and towards the stairs.

She watched him go and wondered if he had been born with the stick up his ass or if the army had made him that way. “Was he born a jerk?” she asked nobody in particular as she stepped into the elevator with the other three men, who were no less intense than Jack but certainly more personable, well to her at least.

She heard Alex chuckle and looked up at the tall, gorgeous Cuban with golden blonde hair and warm, chocolate brown eyes. “Jack is a good guy when you get to know him and the best leader I have ever worked with, but when it comes to Will and anything to do with Will, he loses his head. Will and Jack have the ability to wind each other up with just a look.”

“Yeah, well, it looks like you can add me to that list,” she grumbled.

“Na, he just associates you with Will,” Alex said and winked.

Good lord, that man was a walking sex dream, and yet he did nothing for her. Why, oh, why couldn’t she fall for someone with fewer secrets, with less bad boy about him she wondered as the elevator stopped and Alex stepped out into the hallway, before allowing her to follow. This guarding her thing was getting old fast. She appreciated that they were looking out for her, but she was a trained police detective and not some little girl that couldn’t look after herself.

She was about to gripe at Alex when she stopped dead at the sight in front of her. Her mouth dried up and her brain began to short circuit. She felt her heart begin to pound and her stomach buzzed with butterflies.
