“So the rumour goes,” she replied taking a sip of her drink.
“Drew. Nice to meet you,” he said with a grin as he reached out his hand to her which she took with only the tiniest of flinches that was barely discernible.
“What do you know of Aubrey?” Liam asked, the usually friendly man almost hostile towards Siren.
“She was seen on the outskirts of the Lost Village closest to Buenaventura.”
“When?” Will asked.
“Last night,” she replied as she crossed her legs, her tight black trousers skimming her ankles, the red stiletto heels looking more like a weapon than a fashion accessory.
“And now?” Will asked growing tired of the half answered questions when he sensed she knew more.
“Why don’t you ask your friend here,” Siren said, indicating Liam with a flick of her wrist. Will glanced at Liam, his jaw tight as anger and frustration gnawed at him. “Liam?” he asked his tone clipped.
Liam glared at Siren who just tipped her lips in a smile that would send men to their knees in prayer. Liam finally looked at him, and Will saw none of the friendly, happy-go-lucky man that Liam showed the outside world. He saw the man who had lost his best friend and still wasn’t over it.
“Don’t make me fucking ask again,” Will ground out, his temper growing thin.
“Jack has her,” Liam replied his eyes not leaving Will.
“Jack? My Jack?”
“Yes. He, Alex, Reid, and Blake found her in the jungle and took her to safety.”
Will gripped the arm of the chair, fighting back the need to punch something. “What the fuck was he doing here in the first place and when did he get here? Did you tell him?”
“He got here last night, and no I did not fucking know he was here. Not until he called me earlier to ask why the fuck we stole his Lear jet.”
“And?”
“And I told him I was helping a friend.”
“What did he say?”
“He said I was fired and hoped I had fun. Don’t worry, Jack fires me at least once a week,” Liam said with little care that Jack had sacked his ass.
“Why was he here in the first place?” Will asked knowing that a showdown was coming between him and his brother and he now had a clue how things would stand afterwards.
“He didn’t say. You’ll have to take that up with him. Look, I should have said something, but I didn’t exactly want to get caught in the middle of this family feud you have going on.”
“Yeah, whatever. Don’t sweat it. I’ll take care of it, and if he does sack you, you can always get a job as a stuntman.”
“Well, now that’s out of the way, Drew, why don’t you buy me another drink and tell me all about Roz and this husband of hers,” Siren said to Drew.
“Of course,” Drew said with a grin as he jumped up and walked to the bar with Siren behind him.
“Siren,” Liam called, and she turned on her heel to look at him.
“Yes?” she asked, one perfectly arched brow raised in question.
“Don’t mess around with the kid, he’s been through enough,” Liam said in warning.
Siren turned and looked at Drew as he stood at the bar, women flocking around him like flies to honey. “I think the kid can handle himself just fine.” With that she sashayed away.
Will wondered at the look on Liam’s face. “Where is Aubrey now?” he asked wanting to see the woman who caused him to lose sleep more than he wanted his next breath.
“The team is getting a couple of hours rest, and then they’re bringing her here.”
