While she works on her side of the case, I dig into my father’s firm for any links to Parkhaven, Simone Hart, or the robots. An hour or two into our investigation, Lil bounces in her seat.

“Hey! I found something. Rehabo has sold five hundred million dollars’ worth of units to the North Koreans, Russians, and Iranians.” She turns her screen. “Not suspicious at all.”

Soon after, Dante opens a Signal meeting. Face pale, he asks, “You sure it isn’t a mistake?”

“The only mistake was theirs. Those numbers never should’ve been accessible.”

He taps his fingers on the desk for several seconds before looking up. “Parkhaven is holding an investors meeting in Ireland in a couple of days. I want both of you there, representing Roger Clark.” He pauses. “Will your father have a problem with this?”

I shake my head. “He might, but he won’t dare say anything.”

“What about Jeff Pearson?” Lillian catches my gaze before returning her attention to her laptop. “After our last encounter, he won’t be happy to see us.”

Dante has a helluva devious smile. If he turns it on, you can be sure the proverbial shit’s about to spew everywhere. “Tell him you have a video of him sticking a needle into Lillian’s leg. For a price, you won’t press charges.”

“And Grams? My sister?”

“I suggest they stay here until we eliminate the threat.” The casual tone makes me laugh. Clearly, my boss hasn’t spent enough time with those two.

Chapter 25

Lillian

“I can’t believe we’re in Dublin.” Leaning over the white marble sink, I apply mascara. After, I paint my lips with Rouge Dior. “Hurry up, Sean.”

Water streaming down his defined abs, my partner shakes like a puppy as he steps out of the shower.

Biting the back of my neck, he cups my bare breasts. “What do you say? Arrive late?”

When I hesitate, his fingers dip lower, his voice dropping into a seductive murmur. “It’s not like anyone will miss us. We’re literally crashing the party.”

Why not pretend we’re on our honeymoon? The Parkhaven mystery can wait. As the heat ignites between us, his phone chimes. Picking it up, he rolls his eyes.

“Dante ordered a limo. It’ll be out front in twenty.” Towel low on his hips, he rushes from the bathroom while I remove the Tom Ford halter dress from the hanger.

As I tug the material over my hips, he returns with two miniature devices. Dropping one in his ear, he hands the other to me.

A quick comm check later, Daed restates his earlier warning. “If you lose contact, evacuate.”

Running in these Jimmy Choos? Not likely.

“Understood. Over.” Ogling me, Sean slips into a starched white shirt. As he steps into his Armani suit, I press my thighs together. From his silk tie to his Gucci loafers, he’s every woman’s wet dream.

Once we’re dressed, his hands slide down my sides. “You keep looking at me like that, and we’re never making it to the party.”

What seemed like such a great plan in New York has my stomach revolting. “Maybe we should. Miss it, I mean. Jeff is never going to let us in.”

“Nah. He won’t make a scene. Not in front of money. Trust me.” Confident and every inch the son of a multimillionaire, he takes my arm. “Ready?”

“Yup.” My ankles wobble in the four-inch heels, but by the time we reach the elevator, I’ve found my stride.

“Get the deets on Rehabo and go.” I recite my mantra as we descend.

Halfway down, Sean catches my worried gaze. “It’s a party, not a jungle, babe.”

The elevator pings at the mezzanine level, and when the doors open, I still have qualms. “You do realize we’re throwing stones at a hornet’s nest, expecting not to get stung.”

“With enough speed… won’t happen.” When he chuckles, Dante and Daed join in over the comms.
