Hestia giggled from the other side of the table, taking a sip of her tea. “The way you talk about him, sometimes I wonder if you even like him at all.”
Amelie was about to respond in Rowen’s defense when Delia scoffed and piped up.
“That’s just how siblings are.” Delia shrugged. “I may not always like my sister, but if someone ever threatened her, I would kill them.”
“You mean that metaphorically, right?” Hestia shifted in her seat, eyes wide.
Delia brought the teacup to her lips, a ghost of a smile playing at the corner of her mouth. “Sure.”
“You can be really scary sometimes, you know that, Del?” Hestia whined, catching Delia off guard with the nickname. For a moment, Delia just sat there, wide-eyed, as though she expected Hestia to take it back, but when she didn’t, the death witch just relaxed back into her chair with a grin.
It had taken much longer than any of them had expected to regale the council with the events of the day, so now it was deep into the hours of the early morning. The moon shone down over the graveyard, casting shadows as long as the black scorchmarks in the shape of the ritual circle. Originally, they had discussed restoring the landscape, but the Council ultimately decided it was probably best to let the spell's lingering effects remain especially until Delia could talk to Roz about her abilities.
“I am exhausted.” Hestia huffed, sliding down into her seat.
“I imagine getting mauled by zombies would do that to a person,” Regina replied with a chuckle. “We really should go to bed.”
The group all nodded, but as the silence stretched on, none of them made any moves to get up. The crackle of the fire was the only sound in the kitchen as the group finished their tea, stretching out their excuse to stay seated around the table.
It was only when Regina sighed and stood from her seat that Hestia spoke up.
“I don’t know about the rest of you.” Hestia started, looking a bit sheepish. “But I don’t really feel like being alone right now.”
Amelie’s brows flew up as she realized what the Illusion Witch was suggesting, but Regina just smiled and turned her attention to Delia.
“I know we promised you a date, but would you consider possibly doing things a little out of order?”
Not having realized that Hestia’s suggestion included her, Delia raised her head in surprise, pausing only a moment before nodding.
“Sure.”
Regina smiled and extended a hand to Amelie, helping her out of her seat.
“Excellent. Let’s retire to my room; I think you’ll all find that my bed is large enough to accommodate us all.”
Amelie felt the corner of her lip twitching up in a smile as she remembered what the Divination Witch had said upon her arrival at the cathedral.
I’ve been waiting for you.
“Did you get a large bed on purpose, Regina?” Amelie teased as the rest of the group stood and began following Regina out of the kitchen.
Regina flashed a mischievous smile as she tapped her bottom lip with her pointer finger. “Mmmm, perhaps.”
As Amelie laughed, Hestia hurried up to Regina’s side and looped her arm through the taller witch’s, plopping her head on Regina’s shoulder as they walked. Shortly after, Delia fell into step with Amelie.
“What did you mean by that?” Delia asked as they followed Regina and Hestia down the hallway with the stained-glass windows. The moonlight reflected off the pair’s skin and hair in different, beautiful ways as they moved.
“I think.” Amelie began. “That Regina had a vision, a long time ago, that involved all four of us ending up together.”
Delia’s brows shot up. “What makes you think that?”
Amelie shrugged as she looked down at the shorter witch, slotting their fingers together. “Just a guess.”
Delia smiled and squeezed Amelie’s hand as she shuffled slightly closer, their shoulders brushing as they walked. When they finally got back to Regina’s quarters, Amelie was struggling to keep her eyes open. The candlelight and cozy ambiance of the Divination Witch’s room was the final nail in the coffin, and as Amelie kicked off her shoes, stripped down to her underwear, and hit the sheets, she was asleep before she could even get under the covers.

Amelie stretched, feeling the satin sheets fall from her skin, and almost immediately there was a pair of hands on her and a set of lips on her neck.
