With a nod, Amelie started off across the room and out the door into the hallway. Briefly, she closed her eyes and sent her magical tendrils out through the bricks and stone of the building, searching for her remaining two wards. She had just found Hestia, sitting in her quarters, when a sudden flash of energy forced her eyes open, causing her to stumble several steps back.
Despite sitting with Hestia’s energy, Amelie knew in an instant that it hadn’t been the Illusion Witch. It was cooler, less like a flash fire and more like waves battering against a cliffside. She’d felt that power before, but much less aggressively, and before she knew what she was doing, she found her feet already carrying her in a jog toward Regina’s room.
By the time she got there, the initial shock of the energy wave had worn off, but Amelie could still feel pulses of radiating magic coming from the divination witch’s chambers. Normally she would have knocked.
She was raised better than just bursting into someone’s personal space. But even so, when she got to Regina’s door, she didn’t even hesitate. Throwing open the door, Amelie rushed inside just in time to see Regina, standing in the center of her casting circle, head thrown back as her blank eyes witnessed multitudes.
Amelie couldn’t see what the other witch saw as she stood there, but as the energy continued to fade and the raven-haired woman began to become unsteady on her feet, Amelie was there.
Regina’s typically perfectly pinned hair was loose in some parts, tumbling over her shoulder, and as her head fell forward, Amelie wrapped her arms around Regina, helping her to the floor. She was clearly still conscious, but it was as though all her energy had been sapped from her body with that flash of magic.
Amelie sat on the cold floor, Regina’s head cradled in her neck as the taller witch slumped into her. It wasn’t until Amelie’s heartbeat slowed and she had tempered her breathing once again did Regina began to stir. It was slow at first, but as the divination witch came back to herself, Amelie simply ran her fingers up and down Regina’s back in the comforting way her mother used to when she was ill.
Finally, Regina sat up, rubbing her eyes with the tips of her fingers.
“Wow, that was a big one.” Regina huffed, tucking her hair behind her ear. Off to the side, Salem hopped down from where she had been sitting, perched on a dresser, and padded over to Regina’s side. It wasn’t until Regina opened her closed fist, offering the contents to Salem, that Amelie noticed what she had in her hand.
Glowing with a bright light, dancing around in its bottle, was a prophecy.
Unperturbed, Salem took the bottle in her mouth and took off into the lines of shelves, disappearing from sight.
“Are you alright?” Amelie finally found her voice, running a hand across Regina’s cheek.
“Amelie?” Regina blinked a couple of times before placing a hand on the blonde’s leg. “Oh, you’re really here, aren’t you?”
“Do you need me to go get someone? Bring you some tea?” Amelie waffled, unsure how to help but so desperately wanting to do so.
“No.” Regina laughed softly under her breath, mirroring Amelie’s gesture and placing a hand on the blonde’s cheek. “No, this is fine.”
The light in the room shifted slightly as the bluish glow that had gathered during Regina’s vision began to dissipate like fog, and suddenly, Amelie was very aware of how intimate their position was. It made her think back to the night before in the kitchen, and suddenly, her heart was racing again, but not out of concern.
“I just didn’t think that this was how it would all start.” Regina mused, thumb brushing the blonde’s cheek gently.
“How what would start?” Amelie replied, so quietly as to not shatter the fragile atmosphere that had built around them.
Instead of responding to Amelie’s question, Regina just smiled softly and answered with a question of her own.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Yes,” Amelie murmured, already leaning in before finishing her reply. When their lips met, Amelie felt the air in the room shift. Regina brought her other hand up to Amelie’s face and cupped her cheeks as she deepened the kiss.
Amelie reached out with her other hand and wrapped it around the back of Regina’s neck, tentatively opening her lips, happily accepting when she felt Regina’s tongue brush against her mouth.
Kissing Regina was like drowning in a tempest; every time she moved to touch or kiss, Regina was already there. Her hands made their way down Amelie’s body as she explored every inch of her, gently caressing her collarbone, the side of her breast, and all the way down to her waist.
When Regina’s hands finally settled on her hips, giving them a light squeeze on her hipbones, Amelie felt the pressure in her core.
“Holy shit.” Amelie got out through kisses; it was only when Regina pulled back slightly that Amelie stopped and opened her eyes again.
“Come with me.” Regina smiled, getting to her feet and offering Amelie a hand. Unsure exactly where they were going, but truly willing to follow this beautiful woman anywhere, Amelie took Regina’s hand and stood. The divination witch did not let go as she gestured to the door with her free hand, swinging it closed before leading Amelie into a separate room on the side of the chamber.
Regina’s bedroom was the epitome of romantic and mystical. Pillar candles floating in midair were the only source of light in the space, and all the colors were a mixture of deep blue, silver, and black. The bed in the center was circular and still unmade from Regina waking up that morning. A dark blue down comforter hung off the sides, revealing black pillows and sheets, and was seemingly the focal point of the space.
Amelie heard the door close behind her, only having a few more moments to take in the ambiance before Regina released her hand, turned around, and cupped her face once again, bringing their lips together. The heat from their kiss on the floor still hadn’t faded and was even stoked by the dim light of the candles.
Regina backed them up until she sat down onto the bed, Amelie leaning forward to avoid having to break the kiss. By the time her knees hit the mattress, Regina’s hands were in her hair, and the only thing in Amelie’s mind was the divination witch.
Tumbling back onto the covers, Amelie’s head hit the pillow, and as she opened her eyes, Regina hovered just above her, fingers intertwining as she pinned the blonde’s hands to the bed. Amelie squirmed under the attention, feeling herself get wetter and wetter as Regina moved her hands down to her thighs. She could feel the sharp prick of the witch’s nails through her dress, but as Regina pushed up the fabric, she did so with such gentle care that Amelie almost forgot what her nails looked like in the first place.
