“You were on fire.”
“Freaking incredible.”
They all spoke to me, but I heard nothing. My eyes remained glued to the pink-haired girl waiting for me, her arms hugging herself in the sexy as fuck black dress, backstage. My throat worked as I swallowed hard. With tunnel vision, I swaggered in her direction, reminding myself of the black tulle and lace corset and garter set she wore underneath her dress. My jaw tightened at the idea of ripping the fabric to shreds with my teeth. My imagination simmered, and I adjusted the crotch of my pants to conceal my erection. I handed my guitar to a technician and lifted my girl into my arms, twirling her around.
Our mouths fused.
My hands found her waist, resting in the dip of her hipbones.
Her fingers combed the hair on the back of my head, spreading goosebumps in their wake.
Nothing came close to having April by my side after a show. She traveled across the country to join me. Did she do it on her own or get the help of my team? Right now, I didn’t care. It made me fucking happy.
I rubbed my hard-on against her, letting her know how horny her presence made me.
“Carter, my ass. I’m flashing everyone,” April whispered in my ear, laughing. In the heat of the moment, I forgot I’d confiscated her panties before going onstage. I lowered my hand, pressing the lace fabric of her dress against her bare skin. “You’re the best. I’m so proud of you.” She rammed her tongue in my mouth, oblivious to everyone watching us.
“You’re my muse, Fairy. Nothing can go wrong when you’re beside me.” I put her down on her feet and led the way to the dressing room, flanked by Ed and Taylor on each side. “We’ve been invited to a VIP party downtown. I’ll shower, then we’ll get going.”

We found ourselves in a dark room overlooking the dance floor below. Purple and green light beams swept the crowd and the DJ booth on the first floor. A set of remixed pop songs blasted throughout the club.
“I’ve never pictured this being your scene,” my girl whispered, leaning closer, her fingers grazing the firm muscles of my stomach over my torn designer T-shirt, ripped at just the right spots. My groin throbbed, and I swallowed to keep myself under absolute control. I eyed April sideways, her irises darkening the more her sight rested on me. The pulse in her neck made me wish I could devour her right here in the nightclub.
My hand curled around the back of her neck, and I held her at a hair’s breadth distance from me.
“Anything can be my scene, woman. It all depends on the company.” My mouth crashed on hers. My tongue plunged into her mouth with possessive strokes, making us forget what we were talking about seconds ago.
April sank her body into mine, her fingers clasping my upper arm as if she required the strength. My bicep flexed under her gentle touch. I struggled to keep my breathing even. From the corner of my eye, I noticed how she nibbled at her bottom lip, and I rubbed the back of my neck to avoid unleashing onto her, laying her on the floor, and eating her up in the middle of the VIP room.
Fuck, I always became an animal around her. Why was I so tempted to piss all over my territory?
I clamped my right hand on her thigh, higher than I should in public, letting everyone know she belonged to me. Her skin warmed up, the gesture igniting her entire body. I felt her racing heartbeat under my fingers. Pixie shifted in her seat, forcing her legs closed, blocking the view of her bare self.
Her underwear was still in my pocket. I refused to give it back to her when she asked earlier, and her eyes lit up at the challenge.
I loved the game we played. After all, she flew across the country to be with me tonight. The realization put a smug smirk on my face. I slid my hand a little higher, and April yelped, making me harder. I crossed my leg , my ankle resting on my knee, acting casual. Inside me, everything squirmed. My pinky grazed her moist, naked flesh, and we both pulsed with need. Oxygen stopped reaching my brain. I ate up the flesh of her neck and got high on her lavender scent.
Every one of my gestures had a purpose. An endgame. I loved how April writhed, fighting between indulging in my little game or keeping a straight face around everyone else. I hid my lopsided smirk by sipping on the water I held in my hand. The champagne and cocktails I sent her way could be blamed for the light flush coloring her cheeks. I knew better. The drinks helped to cover up her state of arousal from the people surrounding us, though it didn’t fool me. My finger dug into her wetness, and all hell broke loose. April’s chest inflated and deflated at a fast pace. Her eyes darkened. She pursed her lips, panting. I lowered my hand, and she buckled her hips, longing for my touch.
We broke apart. The game we were playing got too dangerous. I ran my thumb along the length of her bottom lip before clamping her thigh above the knee, to smother the storm raging inside me and regain some of my self-control.
Beside me, April swayed her hips to the rhythm of the deafening music. My fingers drummed to the beat on her thigh as I talked to Taylor while Ed guarded the room from the top of the stairs.
April and I stayed like this for a while, keeping each other on high alert, playing with all our restraints. This constant urge to touch the woman was overwhelming. It soothed me. My uneasiness vanished when my skin met hers. My brain stopped working overtime when she smiled my way.
Flashbacks from the show sent a smile to my face.
Her song . Every time I sang it, it brought tears to her eyes. And a pinch in my chest.
Lost in my mind, I didn’t notice June taking a seat beside April after Taylor resumed his place next to Ed. Deep in conversation, I couldn’t hear a word the girls said over the music. April had this ability to make people feel comfortable around her in no time. June played guard dog with me, even though she fell under April’s charm the moment she met her.
I snapped out of my daze. April looked at me with her best puppy eyes.
“What?”
“June and I want to dance?”
