I missed all of her.

I breathed in some air and courage.

Time to man up.

“Can we talk? In private?”

“Sure, follow me.” April knitted her fingers through mine, and the gesture calmed my agonized heart. Her hand felt like home in mine. She led the way to a small bedroom upstairs and closed the door after us.

“Carter, why are you here? Tell me the truth.” April splayed her small hands over my chest, as my heart banged in its cage. Breathe in. Breathe out .

I pulled her close, erasing the space between us.

We breathed the same air.

Holding her gaze was hard. My eyes kept wandering to her juicy lips.

I wanted them all over me, taking me all in.

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat.

Time to be real. Don’t chicken out.

“There’s something I need to tell you. I don’t know where you stand, but I’ve missed you like crazy.”

I steeled my back.

Come on, get it out.

“April, I love you.” There. Said. My heart leaped in my throat, beating so fast I thought it’d choke me. “In the last few days, I’ve missed everything about you. I want you in my life full-time. Days and nights. I want you to join me when I’m on the road. I want to wake up next to you every morning and make love to you in the middle of the night.” I blew out the breath suffocating me and grabbed her hands.

April’s watery eyes met my hopeful ones. “Carter, I love you too. So much. But I’m scared. My heart has been broken once, and it’s a big leap of faith for me to trust someone with it.”

My hands cradled her face. “April, I said those words to only one woman in the past, and she didn’t love me back. This is huge for me too. I can’t sleep when you’re not around. My mind wanders to you all the fucking time. It’s driving me insane. April Simmons, I want to be with you. Only you. I’m willing to do anything to make our relationship work. I want this with you. Love. A future.”

April rose on her tiptoes, and our mouths collapsed. Three days without kissing her seemed like a lifetime.

Her smile imprinted on my lips. “Carter, I’ve never met someone like you. You rocked my world the day you accused me of taking your picture in the woods. I love you so much. Being here, by myself, has made me realize how much I’ve missed you.”

“Does that mean you’re flying back to Oregon with me?” I asked, a tingle of hope tickling my heart.

April’s shoulders slouched forward. “I wish. There are things I need to deal with here. I can’t go with you. Not this time.”

“The Bensons?” I asked, with bunched eyebrows.

She sighed. “Yes. They asked me to come over. I need to put my past behind me if I want to move forward with you.” April buried her face in my chest. I drowned in her lavender perfume.

“I’ve missed you so much, Fairy. So fucking much.”

“How long are you here for?”

I shrugged. “I’m missing rehearsal and soundcheck right now. My show is tomorrow night. I need to be back by tonight. I can’t stay for long.”

I lifted her in my arms, and she looped her legs around my midsection, the exact way I liked it. My dick sprung wood, and I rubbed it against her center. A soft moan escaped April’s reddened lips. She rolled her hips over mine and fully clothed, we dry-humped each other like horny teenagers.

“I want to be inside you. Now,” I said, my voice filled with lust, before diving my tongue into her needy mouth.

“Fuck me, Carter,” April purred in a husky voice she only used when she wanted to be boned hard and fast.
