“Well, I’d much rather it was you making me come,” I whisper. “So I can wait for tonight if that will make you less distracted in work.”

“I will make you come plenty tonight, I promise. But you don’t have to wait,” he mumbles against my skin. Then he looks up at me with a wicked glint in his eyes. “Are your panties wet?”

“Of course. They have been since the moment I laid eyes on you.”

“Give them to me,” he orders as he holds out his hand.

“What? And go home with no panties on?”

He looks down at my legs, checking. “Your dress is long enough. No-one will see as long as you’re careful. Now hand them over.”

“You are a serious panty fiend,” I say with a laugh. “But I was thinking about stopping by the shelter too, and I absolutely can’t go to work with no panties on.”

The idea has only just come to me, and I’m hoping I can make it there, even if it’s just for a few hours. He frowns. “No, Alana. It’s too dangerous. You said you could work from home.”

“I can, and I have been. But it’s not the same, and I’d really like to speak to a few people there.”

He shakes his head. “I’m sorry. I don’t want to be an asshole, especially after that unexpected gift, but it’s still not safe. I can’t do what I need to do here if I’m worrying about you. You’re safe at the house. You shouldn’t have even come here today.”

I feel a pang of disappointment and instinctively take a step back. He grabs me by the hips and pulls me back to him. “I’m glad that you did. I needed that more than you know. But now I need you to go straight home, and stay there, Alana. I need you to be safe for me. Please?”

“Okay,” I say softly. I’ve enjoyed being out, and the thought of going home without him, without Kelsey, flattens me. Lucia is at school, with guards, and the house feels so empty without her sometimes cheerful, sometimes snarky presence.

But I know that Alejandro is right, and I don’t want to worry him. He has enough to deal with.

“Buena chica,” he says as he brushes my hair back from my face. “I’ll be home later.”

“Right. I should go and leave you to your meeting then,” I say. “Um, do you still want my panties?”

He laughs. “No, it’s okay. On second thoughts, you keep them on while you’re dripping with your sweet cum and sitting in a car full of my men. I don’t want to torture them.”

“Probably for the best,” I agree, although a part of me is stupidly disappointed that he isn’t going to sit through his meetings with my damp panties in his pocket.

He holds my jaw with his hand. “I’ll see you tonight.”

“You will.” I force a smile onto my face, because the last thing he needs is a needy woman on top of everything else.

We’re interrupted by a knock at the door, and within a split-second, Alejandro’s mask of cool, calm confidence is firmly back in place.

“Come in,” he shouts. He kisses me on the head and physically turns me around to face the exit. He pats me on the ass just as his assistant walks through, and I bite down on a giggle as I leave.

I am Mrs. Alejandro Montoya, and I have an image to protect. At least I’m still wearing panties.

Chapter

Thirty-One

ALANA

After five days of pleading and promising that I wouldn’t do anything reckless, Alejandro finally relented and allowed me to go to work at the shelter for a few hours, under the watchful eyes of Hugo and Hank. Whilst I completely understand why he doesn’t want me to leave the house with everything that is going on, I’m going stir crazy. Alejandro is working long hours. Lucia is back at school. I can do some work from home, but I miss being at the shelter and working keeps me feeling sane. It might be a big house with big grounds, but anywhere can feel like a prison if you’re stuck there long enough.

I arrived at my office ten minutes ago, and it’s wonderful. I sit at my desk and twirl around on my chair, thrilled to be back in the real world. I feel useful here, not like a burden. Alejandro has never said anything to make me feel like that, but sometimes I do. I don’t think I was cut out for the Mafia Housewives of Bel Air life.

Hank isn’t allowed in with me because he’s so serious and grumpy that he scares some of the women and children, so he waits outside. He’s a pussycat really, but some of the residents at the center have been through very tough times, and having his glowering presence around makes them nervous. It puts my mind at rest that he’s stationed outside the shelter as well. While I’m sure it won’t happen, I’d never forgive myself if my presence brought trouble to its doorstep. Hank being an eagle-eye out there keeps everyone safe. He’s happier on his own anyway, glaring at passing strangers.

Hugo, though, is a different story. With his bright blue eyes, killer smile and open personality, everyone loves him, especially the kids. That’s good, because today he is my shadow, and I have to accept that. It was part of the deal. I’m just about to make a fresh pot of coffee for us both when I get a message that Kristen is looking for me.

I walk down the hallway and pop my head into her office. I’m about to rush over and give her a hug when I see she’s not alone. “Alana,” she exclaims, a wide smile on her face. “Come on in. An old friend of yours stopped by, and he’s presented us with an offer we can’t refuse.” She gestures at her visitor, but I can only see his back.
