“Te quiero,” he says softly, his voice a gentle balm.
“I love you too,” I whisper. “And yes, please. Let’s go home.”
He nods. “I’m glad to hear you say that. I have a plane waiting at JFK, but if I needed to, I was perfectly prepared to stick you in the trunk of the car and drive us all the way back to LA.”
“The plane will do just fine,” I say with a smile.
“Good,” he says as he wraps his arms around me and kisses my forehead.
“Are you going to punish me for running away?” I whisper. My pulse races, and I feel his cock twitch to life at my words.
“I should,” he breathes into my hair. “I should take my belt to your ass and scar it for life. But no, I’m not going to punish you, as long as you promise never to take off like this again. As long as you promise me that you will always remember you are my whole fucking world. Can you do that?”
“Yes,” I murmur. “I can do that.”
“Okay. So. Do you think your friend would mind if I fucked you on her bed?” he growls, gazing around at the tiny room with its bookshelves and pot plants.
“Yes. I think she’d mind a lot,” I laugh.
“Damn,” he replies with a grin. “In that case I guess we’d better leave it, before I reach the point of no return. I always want to be inside you. You know that.”
“Even when I’m wearing dinosaur PJs?”
“Especially then.”
I widen my eyes and pout. “You like the PJ’s, huh?”
He growls and lunges for me. I jump to my feet, laughing, and run for the door. I only escape because he allows me to, I know. Back in the lounge, Kelsey has the pizza, fries, and cheesecake spread out over her tiny dining table. Looks like Tony came through while I was otherwise engaged. My stomach rumbles at the smell.
“We may as well eat this food, Kelsey,” Jax says. “Those two will be fucking like rabbits for hours.” He pretends he hasn’t seen us coming in, but his cheeky wink says otherwise.
“Oy!” Alejandro says, giving him a hard but harmless punch on the arm. “Come on. Let’s go.”
“Hang on just a damn minute,” Kelsey says, standing up, hands on her hips. She is small, but she is mighty. “You can’t walk in here and steal my best friend like that. It’s the middle of the night. Our food has just arrived, and she’s starving. Plus I haven’t seen her for months. I’ve missed her.”
Alejandro glares at her, and she impressively maintains her ground. He checks his watch. “We have a delinquent seventeen-year-old at home who we need to get back to. And we only have two hours before we miss our slot for takeoff.”
“Sorry, Kels,” I say, giving her an apologetic look. She turns to me, ignoring all the men in the room. Hugo is lurking by the pizza, a feral cast to his eyes.
“No need to be sorry, but I need to know. Are you sure you want to go back with him? Because that’s all I care about. I know these guys might be tough and all that, but I will kick their asses or call the cops if they’re trying to make you do something against your will.”
I feel Alejandro tense beside me.
“Yes, I’m sure. We’ve, uh, sorted out our differences.”
Jax sniggers, and Alejandro glares him into silence.
“I want to go home with him, Kelsey, honestly. I’m sorry I’m running out on you, though. I’ve missed you, too.”
Alejandro looks between the two of us and rolls his eyes. It’s very similar to the look he uses when Lucia is being especially teen girl.
“I may regret this, but why not come with us then, Kelsey?” he offers.
“What?” Kelsey and I say at the same time.
“We have plenty of room on the plane, and in the house. Why not come and stay with us for a couple days? See Alana’s new life? It might put your mind at rest that she’s not being kidnapped,” he replies.
“But she has a job,” I say.
