I suddenly feel like a teenager who is about to get the ass-whooping of her life. He walks in, and the whole atmosphere changes. I gaze at him, breath catching in my throat. Of course, he looks incredibly hot, and incredibly angry, his tailored suit and his crisp white shirt doing very little to civilize him. I can see the fire burning in his dark eyes from across the room, and don’t know whether I want to climb out the fire escape or run into his arms.

He stares at me with his fierce glare. “Hello, Alana,” he says simply.

“How the hell did you find me so quickly?” I ask. “You haven’t implanted a tracker in my ass, have you?”

He scowls at me, but Jax chuckles softly as he takes a seat on Kelsey’s sofa.

“No, but that is a solid suggestion. Is there somewhere we could talk in private?”

“Um, can we use your room, Kelsey?” I ask. My legs are trembling. I’m nervous as hell, but there’s no point trying to avoid this.

“Sure,” she replies, her eyes running from Alex to me and back again. “If that’s what you want?” I nod, offer her a reassuring smile. I appreciate her support, but I really shouldn’t have dragged her into this mess.

“Lead the way,” Alejandro says as he steps back out into the hallway.

I walk towards Kelsey’s bedroom with him hot on my heels. I can feel his eyes on me, and I’m both scared and a touch excited. Yes, I ran from him, but I never stopped loving him, never stopped wanting him. I was scared that he didn’t feel the same, but I’m guessing that isn’t true. Why go to all this effort for someone you don’t want anymore?

He follows me into the room and slowly closes the door behind him. For a moment he does nothing but stare at me, taking in my PJs, my wild hair, my bare feet. His fierce eyes assess it all, and I tremble a little before him.

Then, all of a sudden, he’s on me, moving so fast I have no time to react. He pushes me against the wall with the full weight of his body, one hand wrapping my hair around his fist and the other going to my throat. He kisses me fiercely, full of passion and possessiveness, pushing his tongue inside my mouth and claiming me. I respond immediately, clinging on to him, my hands exploring him. I can’t help it. My body craves him, just like it always has.

He presses his semi-hard cock against my stomach, and I groan into his mouth. Every single one of my nerve-endings is screaming for him. He rolls his hips against me as a growl vibrates through his entire body.

I run my hands over his muscular back and down to his perfect ass. His hand releases its grip on my throat, sliding down my neck, over my breasts and stomach until he reaches the waistband of my PJs. He slides his fingers between my thighs, and I feel a rush of wet heat as he touches me.

I lean into him, panting. I need this. I need him. How did I ever think otherwise? My body yearns for his touch, feeding on it like a fire consumes oxygen. He runs his fingers through my wet folds and onto my clit, rubbing in small circles and making me moan loudly into him. Without even thinking, I spread my thighs wider apart and feel the low rumble in his throat as he pushes two fingers inside me. I feel the burn as he pumps them in and out, reaching deeper with each thrust until he is pressing against that sweet spot inside.

“Alex!” I gasp, but he doesn’t let up. He devours me, owns me, controls me. His mouth, his hands, working together to bring me to the edge. When he brushes the knuckle of his thumb over my clit, I come apart around him, my legs shaking violently and my head spinning as the orgasm rips through me. He keeps a tight hold on my hair, and his mouth stays over mine, swallowing my scream with his kiss.

He soothes the last of my climax from me, allowing my heart rate to return to normal before he breaks our kiss. Then he glares down at me, those beautiful eyes of his dark and full of fire. “Who does this belong to?” he demands as he palms my pussy possessively. I’m still quivering, still catching my breath. My thighs are wet with my own juices, and having his hand there feels so right. I lean into him, weak and needy.

“You,” I sigh as I blink back tears.

“And who do you belong to, princesa?”

I swallow as my pulse starts to race again. “You.”

He pulls his hand free from my panties and lifts it to my face, cupping my chin with fingers that are glistening with my arousal “Exactamente! And will you ever fucking run from me again?”

“No,” I whisper as a single tear rolls down my cheek. “I won’t.”

He nods and presses his forehead against mine. Our bodies are molded together, breath ragged, hearts hammering in perfect sync.

“What the hell were you thinking? Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been, Alana? How worried Lucia has been?”

I can hear the pain in his voice, and I swallow. I wasn’t thinking is the truth. I was just feeling, and none of those feelings were good. I needed to be away from LA, needed to be with someone who loved me and accepted me just the way I am. I regret the way I did it, because he’s right, I have put him and Lucia through stress that could have been avoided. I hoped she’d be reassured by my message, but of course she was worried. It was selfish of me. “I’m sorry,” I whisper. “But I did say I’d be back in a couple days. I just needed some space. I should have told you, I know. But it wasn’t planned, Alex, it was a spur of the moment thing. I didn’t even bring clothes.”

“I see that,” he replies. “Cute PJs. But why didn’t you tell me? Do you have any idea how it felt to realize you’d lied to my men, slipped away? I was scared for your safety, and I wanted to kill you, both at the same time.”

I let out a small laugh. That’s so very him. “I know. I wish I’d told you properly. But it was all so intense yesterday. I did what I felt I had to do in the moment.”

His eyes search mine. The anger is still radiating from him, but there’s something else there too. Vulnerability, and determination.

“We had some bad news yesterday. I know that. But you don’t just run away when things get hard. We face our problems together. You said you wanted a real marriage. That is what a real marriage is about. It’s about sticking with each other even during the tough times. Especially during the tough times. I can’t be married to someone who leaves me when there’s trouble.”

I shake my head. I want nothing more than to stay in his arms, to forget this whole thing happened. To let myself feel safe again. But we need to talk about this, or it will fester.

“It’s not that simple, is it, Alejandro? It wasn’t just bad news. It changed everything. I might never be able to give you children, or the heir your father so desperately wants. Maybe you should find someone who can.”
