Walking over to the bed, she dropped down, her trembling limbs unable to support her.

It was going to happen. There was no way she would not be sleeping with him.

She would not be able to stop herself. She wanted him with a fierceness that was frightening.

It was going to happen. She could be sophisticated about it and philosophical.

They weren’t really married, and they were not involved with anyone at the moment. They were adults, weren’t they?

They could be involved with each other, enjoy the sex, and oh God! She already knew what to anticipate.

He was very good, the best she had ever had, not that she had that much experience. But he was good, the best.

Craig Muldoon certainly knew how to make a woman feel cherished and wonderful. He would take his time, draw out the pleasure until she was practically begging to be taken.

“Jesus!” Pressing a hand to her stomach, she took several deep breaths, which didn’t make a hell of a difference.

She was churned up, and it wasn’t going away.

The chilly water did nothing to ease the pressure in his loins, nor did the mindless task of scaling and gutting the catch. He concentrated fiercely on the mundane task and tried not to wonder what the hell she was doing inside the cabin, or if she was ever going to come back out.

He wanted her help with the vegetables. Dipping the bucket into the water, he washed away the scales and guts, before putting them on paper towels to have them drip dry.

He would need some things from the kitchen, and he was damned if he was going to sit out here in order to give her space.

She could bloody well get her- His furious musings ended abruptly when he heard footsteps on the gravel. Rising slowly, he kept his eyes on her face as she wove her way towards him.

“I had no idea what you would need. You said something about vegetables.”

She had a basket filled with them. “Will these do?”

He was too busy searching her for signs of recrimination, anger, and bitterness to answer at first.

“Craig?”

“What?”

“Will these do?”

Dragging his eyes from her face, he glanced into the basket. “Yeah,” he muttered.

“I also need some seasoning.”

“Just tell me what and I’ll go and get them.”

So, she wanted to pretend that they had not just dove at each other right on the rough planks. Fine with him.

He listed the things he wanted and took the basket from her.

“Thanks.”

He stood there watching as she made her way back to the cabin and shook his head. If she for one minute believed that he was going to leave her alone after this, then she must be a complete idiot.

He was damn well going to finish what he started.
