I nod. “For starters, you promised me a movie.”

“I did. And I intend to keep it.”

“I have ten bucks that say you’ll be asleep fifteen minutes in though.”

“Nuh-uh!”

I poke her side and Bronwyn squeals, shifting away from me. So I up the ante, reaching over and yanking her into my lap. She squeals again, this time mixed with giggles, the pure joy making my heart skip a beat. That’s what this woman does to me—changes the rhythm of my heartbeat.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Honey, I love you. I also know you. Which means I know just how fast you’re going to fall asleep snuggled up next to me once the movie starts to play.”

A guilty look spreads over her face. Yeah, she’s busted, and she knows it.

“Then maybe you just need to do something to keep me awake.”

Now that’s an idea.

Truth be told, I spent most of the day counting down the hours until I got her home. And not just because that meant I could take the red dress off. Because, had I really wanted to, I could have stolen her long enough to rock her world while we were at Dustin and Kenzie’s.

Would it have been rude to sneak away just to give my fiancée an earth-shattering orgasm after all the trouble Kenzie went to decorating their brand-new house? Probably. But if there was anyone who would understand, it was Dustin. I caught him multiple times today eyeing his wife, his thoughts mirroring mine. I also have zero doubts that once all of us cleared out, that was his plan.

Actually, Kenzie would probably understand too.

Bronwyn yawns again, resting her head on my shoulder. At this rate, we won’t make it to a movie. Or to anything else. Which means, I need to speed up my plan.

“It was so nice of Kenzie to host us all today,” she murmurs, her voice muffled by my sweater. “Fourteen people is a lot, especially for your first Christmas.”

“Today was a dream come true for her. She’s wanted that for a long time. A long, long time. Like, used to talk about it in high school, long time. Nash asked her once during a game of truth or dare what she saw her future looking like, and she told us all that when she dreamed of her future, she always pictured the same scene—she was married to Dustin, and they were hosting Christmas in her dream home, and we were all there and everyone was happy.”

“I’m just happy that Nash didn’t try to play truth or dare today.”

“I think he’s learned his lesson there. I’m sure it’ll come back someday, but for now…” I drift off, not wanting to say too much. This isn’t about Nash. Or Dustin and Kenzie. This moment is about us.

First, I need to find the right segue.

Pushing up from my chest, Bronwyn loops her arms around my neck. Her eyes are still sparkling, her stunning form backlit by the glow of the Christmas tree, making her look like an angel. My angel.

“Is that something you ever want to do?”

“Host Christmas?” I confirm.

“Yeah.”

And there it is…

“Someday. I like the idea of waking up Christmas morning in my own bed, that’s for sure. Like the idea of just having to walk down the stairs to see that Santa came.”

“Mmmmm,” she sighs. “That does sound nice.”

“In fact, I think Santa might have visited while we were away.”

Bronwyn perks up. She leans backward just enough, looking at me like I’m Fluffy the three-headed dog. She waits a tick before responding though, and I can see the wheels turning in her brain.

Fuck, is she irresistible like this.

“Santa stopped by last night, putting all the gifts under the tree, so we could open them up first thing this morning before going to your parents’ for breakfast. He also made a stop at your parents’.”
