“Is that a happy tear?” Drea asked.

“Yeah,” Zara managed to choke out, trying to stop more tears from making an appearance.

“Yay!” Drea squealed, jumping up and down. “Then we need to get you ready—mani, pedi, blowout. Will you let us do your makeup? Oh, and a new dress!”

“Um, no, I don’t need all that.”

“Girl, we don’t turn down blowjobs!” Antwan commented.

“Blowouts,” Zara corrected him, for what was probably the millionth time since he’d started purposefully using the wrong term in college.

“Those either.”

“Nope, I insist! He’ll be so surprised!” Drea said, ignoring their banter. “Let’s get you back to Any Way You Want It, and I’ll get started on a dress!”

The moment Zara acquiesced, Drea grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the salon. Zara couldn’t remember the last time that she’d been this nervous, and the only thing realizing that did was ramp up the nerves even more. But for as nervous as she was, she was also excited. She wanted this more than she was willing to admit. She just hoped that history wasn’t going to repeat itself.
