“That and more… and I’m going to remind you of every single word every goddamned chance I get.”

All she could do was groan. Jasper would never let it go.

Slowly, he pulled out and held her upright or she would’ve melted to the floor. “Come on, sweetness, you look dead on your feet.”

She couldn’t deny it, she was, but as he led her into the bright lights of the bathroom, she realized he did too. Not just that, he looked emotionally drained too.

Of course, he would. He’d killed three people in two days and ridden sixteen hours on a motorcycle, just to walk into the club and see her scrapping with his ex-fuck buddy.

Expected.

Silently they stripped and got into the shower. As she lathered up his hair—she was on tippy toe and he was hunched down—she asked one of the questions that she already knew the answer to.

“So, Jana?” Yeah, first name. She was never really a mother, so why pretend?

“Handled.”

One word that spoke volumes. Was she curious as to how? Not really. She knew the guys were good guys, but they did bad things when needed. Jasper in particular and in some bad ways. So, yeah, for the same reason she didn’t want Lucas involved in it, she didn’t need those images. Not that Jasper would’ve told her that anyway.

“Are you… okay?”

He looked at her with a puzzled expression on his face. She watched as it dawned on him why she was asking.

Jasper cupped her cheeks as he blocked the fall of water from her face.

“Yeah, babe. I’m good. She hurt you in ways that could not be atoned for. There isn’t a solitary cell in my body that aches for her.” He kissed her slow and gentle.

God, that tongue ring was going to be her undoing. It was the most controlled their lips had ever been with each other. It was telling, he was telling. Letting her know his words were true. When he pulled away, her lips blindly chased his.

“Thank you for caring about how I might be feeling. Only one other woman in my life has ever cared about how my own actions impact me, and she raised me.”

She watched his mood shift, and he dropped his forehead to hers.

“Shit. I walked right past my aunt and didn’t even check on her. I really should go talk to her.”

“Wait.” She wrapped her arms around him tighter to stop his retreat. “She made me promise when we had tea, that when you got home, I’d keep you away until you had a proper sleep, a hearty meal, and…” She trailed off. Even after all they’d done, she couldn’t help the blush that was creeping over pretty much her entire body.

His smile turned wicked. “What? Finish, what did she say?” By the gleam in his soulful brown eyes, he had an idea. He just wanted her to say it.

“Acrobatic and enthusiastic lovemaking.”

Jasper’s laugh was a balm to her soul. He didn’t share his genuine amusement often. Usually, he’d do a reserved, polite laugh, but when he gifted one of the real deals, it was borderline orgasmic.

It made her heart happy. Shit, he made her heart happy. As his laughter died, he asked, “Is she really okay though?” His love and concern for his aunt was obvious.

“Yes, she is really okay.”

His aunt had given her a rundown of what went down and her heart went out to her. The woman seemed to compartmentalize really well. “She went so far as to threaten me if I allowed—her word, not mine—if I allowed you to leave your bed to speak to her. So please, don’t let her put a curse on me because I wholeheartedly believe she can.”

Jasper reached behind him and turned off the water. “Well then.” He smacked her wet ass as he ushered her from the shower. “You better get in there and limber up or I might just tattle on you.”

“Gasp,” she said dramatically as she spun around, clutching her towel. “Jasper Sasquatch Bigfoot Cryptid Stanton, you wouldn’t.”

He snatched the towel away. “Oh, but Devin Sweetness Pudding Cup The Best Ol’ Lady In The World Farrell, I totally would.”

Scooping her up, he power walked them to the bed and they tumbled onto it in a heap of limbs and laughter.

“Speaking of that.” She slapped his chest. “I’m so pissed, how is it you never told me about the whole ol’ lady thing but everyone and their brother knows?”
