I couldn’t hit the button fast enough to hang up on her ass. Over the past week, she had sent me about twenty texts saying that the pussy was available whenever I wanted it, only to fuss when I hit her up to put in my order. She knew I wasn’t going for that shit. I blocked her ass when she immediately called me back and hit up the runner up for the night.
“Hey,” Kenya’s sultry voice cooed through my speaker.
“You up?” I asked.
“I can be,” she answered quickly. That’s what the fuck I was talking about.
“You ready?” I asked.
“Waxed, wet, and with fresh test results,” she answered quickly. I made a note to move her up in the rotation. I had been giving more time to Mina because she was familiar, but apparently that had her ass too comfortable.
“I’m on my way. See you in about an hour.”
“I’ll keep it hot for you,” she said.
“Bet.” I hung up and went to shower so I could get to her place. Mina was currently the only one I would let come to my spot, but I guessed that was about to change anyway since Destiny was moving in. I found my mind drifting to her as I took the thirty-minute drive to Kenya’s house. I just knew she probably slept covered up from top to bottom in some old school ass nightgown. I chuckled at the thought, ready to flame her ass to infinity as soon as I saw her walking through the crib looking like a Victorian ghost child.
I couldn’t fucking wait.

The next day, I took in the scene as I pulled into Destiny’s apartment. It wasn’t the worst area, but for a nigga to have money and live in the neighborhood that Coop did, I’d be damned if I had my seed living in a spot that didn’t at least have a fuckin’ security gate. I minded my business, parked the whip and headed upstairs so I could go meet her.
“Hey,” she said with an awkward smile as she opened her front door. I looked her over from head to toe and resisted the urge to groan. Today she had on some type of flowy blue dress with another damn sweater over it and some fucking Jesus sandals… They looked like they might actually be the ones that nigga wore. She switched it up, and had her hair slicked up into a tight bun at the top of her head, which irritated me even more. It was like she was determined to be boring as fuck… Pretty, but boring.
“You ready?” I asked.
“Yep, let’s do it.” She smiled warmly as she threw her purse over her shoulder. We made our way down to the parking lot and her eyes lit up.
“This is your car?” she asked, eyeing my Bentley SUV in awe. And there I was thinking that I was toning it down for the day. She might have let me see a kneecap if I pulled out the ‘Gatti.
“Yeah, this me,” I answered, opening the door for her and helping her inside. I rolled my eyes when I still couldn’t even see an outline of cheeks through the fluffy ass dress.
“Wow, look at you being a gentleman. I never would have guessed.”
“Stop fuckin’ playin’ with me.” I mugged her. “I ain’t never been nothing but a gentleman to your spoiled ass.”
“Yeah, calling me Lil’ Bo Peep and cussing me out every five minutes… real chivalrous,” she teased, but I could tell she didn’t really have any hard feelings.
“You want me to stop calling you that?” I asked sincerely.
“No,” she said with a laugh. “Then I would have to stop calling you Brickly. I’m good.”
“I can’t fuckin’ stand you, yo.” I laughed harder than I meant to. I didn’t keep a lot of women around that I had never ran up in, so it might be cool having Destiny as a homie… especially since I wasn’t attracted to her. She was able to keep shit light and was funny as shit. I really liked the fact that she didn’t get all bent out of shape from my teasing and knew how to give that shit back.
Le Jardín was everything bougie, but it was nice as hell. As a business owner myself, I could tell it was top of the line and worth every penny that my mother spent on it. We played the role of a loving couple as the owner showed us the area where we would have the ceremony and the ballroom where the reception would be.
The space was Black owned, but our tour was being done by Hannah, the assistant manager, and her pale ass had one more time to say some slightly condescending shit to either of us before I set it off in that bitch.
“You know, I never would have placed you two together,” she said once Destiny had excused herself to the bathroom. “You two just seem so… different.” I side-eyed her because what the fuck did she mean by that? She looked me up and down in my head to toe Versace fit and Jordan’s, and I knew her mind went back to whatever-the-fuck that was that Destiny had on. That was the moment I realized Hannah’s ass wanted the dick, but even if I wasn’t pretending to be married, I wasn’t slinging wood to nobody lighter than a paper bag.
“Yeah, well… the first time I saw her, I knew she was the one for me,” I said, lying through my teeth. “Even with this being as new as it is, I knew very early on that she would be my wife.” That part wasn’t a lie.
“New?” She asked with her brow raised. “Your mother reserved this venue a year ago. We usually have a waiting list of at least eighteen months, but she paid a pretty penny to have it moved up.”
“She…” I paused, wanting to cuss the lady out for simply being a part of the manipulation. “Of course she did. I mean, we were new when the original plans were made. A year don’t even seem like that long to me. Excuse me.” I said, walking away without another word. Destiny was taking too long in that fuckin’ bathroom. I knocked twice and pushed the door open, knowing she had to be alone because we were the only people in the building.
