CHAPTER 20
ZACHARY
I heard him come in, but I was too upset to say anything.
“Zach? Are you asleep? Ow! Fuck!”
I watched Teo’s silhouette tiptoe over to his bed where he dropped everything and kicked off his shoes. He headed to the bathroom next where I heard him brush his teeth.
His eyes must’ve adjusted to the dark because he made his way over to my bed without stubbing another toe.
“You there, Zach? Is it okay if I sleep with you?”
I wanted to say yes, but something held me back. His hands found me through my comforter.
“You are here! But you’re asleep. Shit, I hope I didn’t wake you up. I’m just going to sneak in here.”
He pulled the comforter back and his warm body slid next to mine. “Fuck, I missed this.”
My soft heart couldn’t take a comment like that and stay quiet. I also knew I wasn’t going to sleep unless I talked about it with him.
“I’m awake, Teo.”
“Did I wake you up? I’m sorry!”
“You didn’t wake me up. I was awake.”
“Then why didn’t you say something?”
“I-I’m…upset.”
“Do I need to kick someone’s ass?” Teo squeezed my arm. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No. At least, I don’t think so.”
“Just spit it out, Zach. You’re killing me.”
“I heard two guys–I don’t know who–in the kitchen talking about us.”
I heard him sigh. “Did they use the f-word?”
“No, it’s not that. They didn’t care that we’re together. They weren’t homophobic or anything.”
“So what upset you?”
“It’s silly, but they assumed I was the bottom.”
“Oh.”
“It’s not that I’d be ashamed if I were the bottom, but the language they were using was–”
“Crass?”
“Yes. They said that I probably loved getting it up the ass from such a stud like you, and…and–”
“You can tell me, Zach.”
“And that I probably just bend over and beg you to fuck me whenever we’re alone.”
