He was a great actor. Gareth had no idea we’d already met, and I wasn’t sure if I should tell him since Clayton seemed quite determined to let the past remain there.

“Sure, I’ll take one.”

Clayton offered a toast to Gareth for bringing us together, laying it on real thick, and that’s when I vowed to crack the clearly pent-up shell he was protecting. What we did wasn’t wrong, and even though the random stranger from the bathroom stall was now a single dad named Clayton, I was on board for a repeat.

The whole ignorance act was already driving me up the wall. I wanted to tear his tucked-in heather gray polo over his head, rip the belt off his waist, and impale myself on whatever mystery meat was hiding underneath.

My reserve lasted to the sidewalk.

“I hooked up with him.”

Gareth stopped in his tracks. “When?! I was in the bathroom for two minutes tops!”

“Not today! Like, back in March or April, at The Stable.”

A hundred expressions flashed across his face. “Oh God. Tell me you weren’t the one to unload all over him and leave him there?”

“He was a willing participant!” I glanced around the neighborhood, confirming we were alone. “It’s not my fault he couldn’t swallow it all.”

“Jesus, Jack.” Gareth covered his eyes with his hand before swiping it down the side of his face.

“How did you know anyway?” I was curious.

“I gave him a ride home because he was so hammered.”

“Oh, then I guess he really doesn’t remember.”

We both got in Gareth’s car. “You sound almost disappointed. Do I even wanna know?”

“I…kind of thought he was toying with me…and that idea was kind of…fun?” At the moment, my cock agreed.

“Newsflash! You haven’t met the progeny yet.”

Gareth was right. It shouldn’t have even crossed my mind. I wasn’t looking for anything long-term, and something short-term with a dad felt off somehow. I wasn’t ready for a kid. I was too busy still being one myself. Admittedly, the sitting on a toilet and blowing me Clayton was hot, but the divorced, likely still getting over his marriage, single dad Clayton was another story. The fantasy was over.

The days passed quickly and before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye to our old place forever.

Clayton: You need help moving your stuff?

Jack: Gareth and Eli are helping.

Clayton: On my way.

“Clayton’s coming over,” I said.

“Good! I am not going to be the only one sore after this,” Eli said.

“Aw, babe, I’ll give you a rubdown later if you need it.”

“Is that so? Maybe I need it right now?”

I cleared my throat and they calmed down. I was happy for them, but they went into cuddle mode very quickly and sometimes…sometimes it bothered me. I hated to say it because they were happy, but it did. I wasn’t even looking for a relationship, but seeing them, knowing how happy they were after not even a year…sometimes it made me think of what I was missing.

My phone blipped – the telltale Grindr noise.

“Is that always on?” Eli asked.
