After dinner, Freddie gave us some privacy.
“So, you definitely have the correct number, right?”
Ty pulled out his phone, and a second later, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out.
Tyler: You bet.
“Good. We can text or call each other. I don’t mind driving up to San Jose to see you. It’s only five hours. And if you want to come down-”
“Yes, I’d like that.”
“I should’ve mentioned this before we fooled around, but I was tested before the trip. Everything was negative. So, if this progresses, I’m good for bareback because I trust you when you say you haven’t been with anyone in a while.”
“O-okay.”
I could almost see the wheels turning. He’d need some time to get there. “And just to be clear, since you haven’t done this before and I’m big on transparency, I’d like to date you and no one else. I don’t do promiscuity.”
Ty nodded, like an excited puppy. “Agreed. So, does this mean we’re dating? Like, I have a boyfriend?”
“It does. If…that’s what you want.”
“I want that. I totally want that.” Ty slipped onto my lap and wrapped his arms around my neck.
I chuckled. “You’re such a good boy. You’re gonna make a great boyfriend.”
* * *
“I can’t believe you got a boyfriend. All I got was this little surfboard that says my name and Santa Cruz,” Freddie lamented.
“Well, were you looking?”
“I was looking.”
“Right. And trust me, I can’t believe I got a boyfriend either. Running into him like that-”
“Excuse me. He’s the one that ran into me.”
“Yes. That.” I sighed. “It must’ve been fate.”
“Totally. I mean, never-been-with-a-man twink-Thor gymnastics god meeting up with towering muscle-Hulk athlete of the year is high on fate’s list of priorities, I’m sure.”
“You’re right, he does kind of look like a twink-Thor, doesn’t he?”
“Help! Someone! I’ve lost my friend to love.”
“Shh, don’t say that. It can’t be that yet. It’s been like two weeks.”
“Of non-stop flirting. Give me your phone.”
“What? No.”
“Exactly. Because your texts sound like Fifty Shades meets gay Baywatch. And there’s more booty shots from your boy on there than the Thong Song music video.”
“Your point?”
“You’re completely smitten. End of story.”
He was right. I was. So far, I had ignored every trigger learned from my mistake of a tryst with Ian and just kept shoveling coal as the relationship train barreled down the track.
