“Well, don’t worry, son. You turned out to be a pretty great guy and we couldn’t be more proud. And you-” he added, pulling me towards their group hug, “-you are part of this family now, so if you ever need anything for yourself or Declan, just let us know. You’ve clearly made Declan a very happy man and that makes us happy too. It took a lot of guts to speak up back there, with everyone watching. It’s clear your feelings for our son are strong and I hope he’s already thanked you for standing up for him at a moment when he was at a loss. That’s really the definition of a true partnership. I couldn’t be prouder of the both of you.”

This was a huge moment. The uptight Moores were accepting me, thanking me.

“I don’t know what to say, Mr. Mo-”

“Elijah is fine, Tyler.”

“Elijah, then.” Our intimate four-way hug broke apart.

“I echo all of my husband’s sentiments. Declan, you found a special one.”

“Your son’s pretty great too, Avery, so it’s not like he’s the only one getting something out of this.”

“I’ll definitely be getting something out of this later,” Declan whispered into my ear.

“Maybe you guys should change and head to the airport early,” Avery suggested.

“What about the Campbells?” Declan asked.

“Oh, we’ll handle them.” Elijah brushed it off. “Don’t worry about it. Your mom and I will figure something out.”

“Thank you!” Declan gave them both another hug and kissed them goodbye.

I wished them both a ‘Merry Christmas’ and followed Declan up the back stairs so we could change and pack.

“I still can’t believe you did that.” Declan was practically beaming. “I have a kick-ass boyfriend.”

“That you love.”

“And he loves me too. He said so in front of everyone.”

“I did and I’d say it again if I had to. Nobody makes you feel uncomfortable. That’s my job.” I gave his junk a squeeze through his briefs as he slid up his sweatpants.

“Stop that. I wanna get out of here. You can blow me in the car. You like that, remember?”

“Oh, I’m aware.”

Fifteen minutes and one loose seatbelt later and it was obvious Declan liked it too.

I noticed he was also getting better at driving while coming.

We made it to the airport early, so we had time to kill in the shops and at the bar. Declan celebrated with a beer and I had a raspberry margarita. Despite my oral acrobatics, Declan’s refractory period was apparently over. The sweatpants weren’t hiding much. I snapped a pic and saved it in my special folder.

I loved Declan, but his dick was definitely a bonus.

I tipped the Uber driver through the app as Declan grabbed our suitcases from the trunk. It was late, and while the porch light was on, I didn’t see many other lights.

It looked like we might have to say hello to everyone tomorrow. Well, later today, actually.

I inwardly hoped the spare key was still inside the conch shell in the front garden, but I didn’t have to worry. They left the front door unlocked.

“Who leaves the door unlocked?” Declan asked from behind me.

“It’s not like LA, Dec. Besides, any robber is go-”

“Surprise!”
