"So, are you, like, naked guy?"

"I’m Jake Anderson. You know, the Australian diver.” He pulled at the speedo, showing me a blue flag with some stars. I surmised it was the Australian flag and avoided embarrassing myself by not asking for confirmation.

“Oh. I think I met him in Brisbane actually.”

“Seriously? Graham Shea is so lucky.”

“Jealous, huh?”

Miles nodded.

"I could probably introduce you some time. I certainly will, if they ever come to the San Diego area."

"I would die."

I couldn't help but smile. I had been with a guy for just over a year and had almost forgotten what being single felt like. Seeing Miles took me back.

“Well, there are plenty of men here tonight, and with a costume like that, you’ll be sure to have a lot of them interested.”

“You think so?”

“Of course. Isn’t that why you wore that?”

“Preston convinced me to. He said I needed to lose my V card.”

“What did I say?!”

I winced, smelling the alcohol on his breath. Preston had wedged between us, hanging himself off our shoulders. He wore a black bodysuit and mask, a fluorescent blue lightning-bird thing on his chest.

“You gave me this idea,” Miles answered, motioning to his mostly naked body.

“He looks hot. Right, Coach Ty?”

I ignored him, since hitting on my athletes was frowned upon and changed the subject. “Nightwing, huh?”

“I figured this shows off my muscles. Plus, most guys have a thing for superheroes.”

I wasn’t sure Preston was gay when I first met him. He seemed to disapprove of me and Declan, but after a while, I realized he was jealous. Tonight confirmed it for me, though it might be the alcohol. At best, he was very much in the closet. I hadn’t heard him speak of it until now, though Miles hadn’t seemed surprised. Of course, he could be hiding it. Miles was always hard to read. He was like Graham in that way.

“Well, the night ain’t gettin’ any younger, Coach. See ya ‘round. Don’t wait up.”

Before I could remind him that he was underage and that he should take it easy, Preston was gone.

“What are your plans for the night?” I asked Miles.

“I dunno. Just have a good time, I guess.”

“Well, if you need anything from me, just call or send a text.” I didn’t want to be too obvious, knowing he’d get embarrassed. Especially considering I just learned Miles was still a virgin.

“Sure thing, Coach.”

We stood there for a few more minutes without saying anything. I knew Miles was gathering the courage to venture out on his own.

“Hey, babe. Here ya go,” Declan said, handing me my drink. “Fruity, as requested. Hey, Miles. What’s up?”

“Hey, Declan. Nice costume.”

“Thanks. Showing off that tight body of yours, huh?”
