“Oh.” I hadn’t known that. “He was good, wasn’t he?”

“I’ll say. Three consecutive state titles and a full ride to Duke.”

“Damn. I didn’t know that.” I guess things worked out for him.

“Yeah, I’ve heard he’s here with a new coach to watch the games. He might have a shot at the Olympics in San Francisco, but he’ll need to learn a different wrestling style first.”

I wondered if Cam was still close enough with Erika to stay up-to-date on Austin. I knew she got engaged last year from her Instagram announcement.

“So, anything else we need to discuss?”

“It might be too early to think about, but I’m assuming I won’t be welcome at my parent’s apartment, and I doubt they’d want me squatting in their other homes. So I’m not sure where I’m living now…”

“Jesus, Luke. You really think they’d take it that far?”

“I think so. I don’t know. Probably?”

“Well, again…I can talk to Noah, and if needed, Woodward. But we’ll come up with something.”

“To be honest, I want to be wherever Cam is, but I haven’t talked to him about it. We just got back together this morning and I don’t want to push him too fast. He says he forgives me, but I want to make sure before we take things further.”

“That’s probably wise, but Cam’s a big boy. He can take care of himself.”

Definitely big.

“Thanks, Shane. Let me know if you need anything from me, especially with the phone. I really appreciate your help. I hope it won’t be an issue with Noah.”

“It shouldn’t be, Luke. Try not to worry. We’ll figure it all out.”

Colton and Alex had joined forces to make a dinner of chicken and pasta for all of us, and despite being in an amazing hotel suite, we were all dead tired from the drama of the past twenty-four hours. Cam and I said good night to the guys and headed to our room.

Ford had done more than bring us the humidifier. He had already set it up, and it was running. I’d have to remember to thank him tomorrow. I had the bag of stuff he bought for Cam, and the pamphlet from the doctor. Cam gave it to me earlier per my request, so I could study it. I knew he was taking it seriously, but I was going to do everything I could to help Cam fully recover.

Luke was so sweet. He set up the steam apparatus in the bathroom for my breathing exercises. He gathered the bowl, filled it with boiling water and sprinkled in the herbs Ford had picked up. It felt silly to be taken care of, but it also felt comforting to have the support. Seeing him take what the doctor said so seriously meant a lot. It showed how much he cared. Luke waited with me while I held a towel over my head and the bowl, breathing in the steam.

“Take one last deep breath,” he told me. “And that’s five minutes. We can do it again in the morning.”

Aw. I can’t believe he was timing me. I pulled my head out from under the towel and tossed it onto the vanity.

“Shower time,” he said, stripping off his shirt. I quickly followed his lead. I hadn’t showered since the locker room a couple days ago, and I wasn’t sure my deodorant was doing much anymore. This was not only going to feel amazing, but it would also hopefully eliminate the smoky smell lingering on my body, though Luke hadn’t mentioned it.

It was the first time we were both completely naked and alone in just over four years. He didn’t seem to realize, but I was staring and given a full view of his perfect ass as he turned away to get the water started.

“I didn’t realize, but it’s actually a dual shower!”

I joined him at his side to look and cupped his right butt cheek with my hand. He smiled and leaned in for a kiss. It was brief, but the comfort it ignited in me was reassuring. This felt right, and it was long needed.

“I kind of like you not talking. It’s giving me a dom-sub vibe right now.”

I smiled at his observation, though I noticed that despite me touching his butt, he wasn’t hard. A part of me wondered if he was still as horny as he always was, and then he yawned.

“I’m so tired. You’ll catch me if I fall asleep in here?” he said, stepping into the spray.

That’s probably why he’s not more hands on.
