He twisted his fingers, and his tongue did a gymnastic move on her breast.

Whoa! She gripped his hips and pulled.

“Oh, mama.” Another orgasm loomed just out of reach. He had her hanging on a thin string, hips bucking. If he didn’t suit up and slide in soon, she’d flip him off the couch and ride him like a champion bronco rider.

She clutched at his jeans. On a zip, his shaft popped free, and into her hands. Her audible exhale filled the room. Glorious, hot, and… big. Her body clenched, doing Kegels at first sight.

Was it this big the other day? Maybe the cold had affected it, because today, it was definitely a handful. Laney only had Pete to compare to, but dang, Cade won, hands down, and he hadn’t even put it inside her yet.

“You ready, baby?” Cade cooed as he continued slow, steady strokes with his finger.

No words formed. She bobbed her head. Yes!

When his fingers pulled out, her core wept. Then, like magic, he produced a condom. From where she didn’t know, or really care at this point. Only one thought came to mind. Hallelujah! Home run!

He pressed his hot, hard length to her core, and all thoughts of sports slipped away.

Laney rolled her head. She reveled in the feel of his thick shaft, stretching her, igniting sparks of pleasure as he seated fully inside.

“Open your eyes. I want to see those beautiful pools of blue as I make you come apart.”

As if waking from a drug-induced coma, Laney battled to open them, but when she did, it was so worth it. Dark, intense irises locked on hers, and she was gone—even before his hips moved, and hers in response. They moved as if this was the most natural thing. Her. Him. Together.

With each drive of his cock, the walls of her core cried with delight. Yes! Her second orgasm hit her like lightning. After shocks raked her body, he jolted with his own bolt of pleasure.

By the seventh inning, Laney snuggled into Cade’s arms in a happy afterglow. His hand stroked a lazy path up and down her back.

“Home run,” he muttered.

Laney drifted off with a vision of Cade racing around the bases in his birthday suit while the crowd waved their homer hankies.

Laney woke to the canned sounds of a late-night talk show. Cade slept beneath her. Taking in his strong jaw and chiseled features, her mind wandered over the last few hours, relaxing, comfortable, and definitely exhilarating. The old Laney would never have been able to relax and enjoy such a wonderfully bone-melting experience with Cade as the new, improved Laney had.

She smiled. No strings meant no obsessing if he would call, or if she made gross noises during sex that were unladylike… didn’t want to scare him off. Well, no worries.

She traced the line of his jaw as she watched his chest rise and fall. Visions of white picket fences and little-leaguers playing in the front yard flashed behind her eyes.

She snapped her hand back like she’d been burned.

No. No. No. She needed to get away from this warm, cozy cocoon she was wrapped in before those thoughts started to take hold. Laney looked at her newfound independence like an alcoholic would a glass of bourbon. If she put herself in a place that would foster thoughts of happily-ever-after, she would likely backslide. Slithering away from the warmth, she extracted her arm from around his neck. He shifted. Wait? Why was she being so gentle? This was her house. She should slap him on the belly, thank him, and show him the door.

His eyelids fluttered. Sweet biscuits. His sated, dreamy look knocked her knees out from under her. Good thing she was lying down. On him, to be exact.

“Hey,” He looked around. “Did you see who won the game?”

“No, but that’s okay. I can check the scores online.” Laney stood, grabbing a throw off the back of the couch to wrap up in.

Cade stood up as well and enveloped her in his arms. “You know, next time I think we should use the bed.”

That sounded like a great idea. Maybe she should invite him upstairs?

No! Did she not just listen to her own pep talk?

“It will have to be another night. I really want to take you to bed and sleep all night with you in my arms, but I have a feeling that if I stay, we won’t get much sleep.”

“Yeah, I have to be at work early tomorrow, so I suppose you should be heading home.” Yes. Send him home. No strings, just a fun time. So why did this wave of sadness drift through her chest? She pushed it down.

“Can I see you on Friday?” he asked as he pulled on his pants.

“I work tomorrow night.” Laney couldn’t afford to take another day off from the grocery store.

“How about Saturday? I work during the day, but the evening is open.”

“I’m going out with my friends, Addison and Marti, but if you want to join us, I’m sure they won’t mind.” She hoped not. She better check with them tomorrow.

“Great, I’ll see if Nash wants to tag along.” Fully dressed, he slipped on his shoes and grabbed his keys.

“Thank you for dinner.” At the door, Laney tightened her grip on the throw blanket. She went up on her toes to give him a soft goodnight kiss. At least, that was the plan. By the time she pulled away, a couple minutes had passed, and she wanted to pull him into the house again.

“Thank you… for the baseball game.” He smirked, laughter in his eyes. With a wink, he sauntered to his truck.

Laney closed the door and leaned against it. She needed to get a grip on this whole fling thing. If she didn’t, her new independence would go down the toilet in a whirl of emotions.

She heard his truck pull away. But something else rang in her ears as well. Was that a flush?
