Bonhi sighed. “It sounds like a fairy tale.” She wanted to know all about it, but she didn’t ask. Instead she said, “I have clients, and court, and meetings, and situations, and office rent to pay. I don’t have time.”
“This weekend?”
She shook her head.
He moved in closer and she lifted her face to his, taking in his gorgeous eyes and his sexy lips.
“Next weekend?”
She shook her head again. He put his arms on either side of her, bracing himself against the wall and leaning in. She put her hands on his arms and licked her lips.
He grazed his lips against hers, sending her body into overdrive. She chased him, but he pulled back.
“To be clear,” he rumbled, “You’re saying ‘no’ to the magical house and ‘yes’ to kisses.”
“That's right,” she panted. “No to anything magic-related, but… yes…” Her eyes slid closed and her voice trailed off as she anticipated his kiss. “Yes to you…”
His lips touched hers with something like an electric shock. She gasped, then sighed into his mouth while his tongue explored her softly. He tasted like mint and smelled like the forest. All of her mind's objections went tumbling away as her body said, ‘yes, Dallas, yes.’ He kissed her collarbone, grasping her shoulders roughly and pressing her against the wall.
“You can stay,” she gasped out.
“Aven and Dakota?” he rumbled deliciously against her neck.
“They can sleep in the guest bedroom.”
Dallas gripped her tightly and took her mouth again. He plunged his hands into her hair, pulling it, gathering it, running his fingers through it.
“I've been wanting to do that since the first time I saw you,” he purred, making her weak. He kissed her again, gathering her hair into a ponytail and using it to pull her head back, while he trailed fiery kisses across her shoulders and neck. She shivered and grasped at him, pulling him closer, feeling consumed and overpowered.
“Where will I sleep?” he growled.
Bonhi stiffened. Dallas released her hair, then pressed her into the wall, kissing her neck, while she tried to figure out if she was ready to sleep with him. Her body was willing, but did she want the complication? She could tell by the way he touched her that he would make it worth her while…
Bonhi melted into his powerful presence as he held her close and plied her with kisses. She breathed in his exotic, woodsy scent and pictured the black jaguar that he could become, realizing if she didn’t follow this wherever it led, she’d regret it for the rest of her life.
“With me.”
Dallas kissed Bonhi with single-minded purpose. Please her. Mark her. Meld with her. She shivered and sighed, her hands winding through his hair, making his scalp tingle. He kissed his way back to her lips, swallowing the sweet sounds she made. He wrapped his arms around her waist, crushing her to him, then he picked her up, testing his balance on the prosthesis. He was good.
He carried her to the stairs and set her down at the bottom, then pressed her into the wall and kissed her again. Her hands snaked around his middle, and she responded to his kisses with soft sighs that stirred his lust. The woman was hot and sexy as hell. His dick was rock-hard in his pants for the first time in for-fucking-ever. He had no idea how sex would go with his prosthesis, but he’d figure it out, if they got that far.
He planned on enjoying every step of the way, just in case they didn’t. He pressed her into the wall and took her mouth with his tongue like he was fucking her for real, showing her exactly what it would be like.
In the backyard, Dakota laughed, making Dallas freeze, then lift his head.
Bonhi started up the steps. “Let’s go upstairs,” she said, her voice soft and lovely and he wanted to hear her talk more… but he also wanted to fuck her until she screamed his name. He followed her eagerly, holding her hand, favoring his prosthesis. She led him to her room. It was large and her bed sat in one corner, covered with a purple bedspread and pillows.
Bonhi walked across the room to the bathroom and said, “I’ll be right out, make yourself comfortable.”
Dallas watched her until the bathroom door closed, then he sat in a recliner near a bookshelf. His leg ached and he hadn’t realized it until now. He leaned back, leaving plenty of room for his stiffie, glad it was sticking around through the pain.
Dallas straightened his leg, then let it relax, looking around, hearing water running in the bathroom. Next to him on a small table was a stack of books. He picked up the top one. Taltos by Anne Rice. Underneath it were The Witching Hour, and Lasher, also by Anne Rice. Dallas opened to the bookmark in Taltos, which was near the end.
He read a random line from the book: “I have learned to live with a profound loneliness. I forget about it for years and years. Then it surfaces, the desire to be placed in context by somebody else. The desire to be known, understood, evaluated morally by a sophisticated mind.”
“Whoa, heavy,” Dallas muttered. He shut the book with a snap and put it back down.
The bathroom door opened and Dallas looked that way.
