"Talking means standing close and smiling like that?"

"You were the one who told me to remember I am Mrs. Morozova and work the room when you need it," she said, each word clipped. "I did."

I reached over and caught her chin. Her breath cut off, lips parting. The irritation in her eyes broke apart under the sudden move.

"Kiryan, let go," she gasped, breathing faster.

"When he kissed your hand, why didn't you tell him to back the hell up?" My thumb pressed along the edge of her lower lip. The soft skin trembled.

Her gaze dropped to my mouth. One heartbeat—then she jerked it away, flustered.

"That was social etiquette," she said. "And he only touched my hand."

Only touched her hand.

The image slammed back into my head—Yegor holding her, lowering his mouth, his lips hovering over her knuckles while his eyes stayed on her. Listening to her talk about the one thing she actually loved. Standing up for her.

He'd done what a husband was supposed to do.

"You are disappointed he only touched your hand?" I stared at her. "Elena, you've fucked your way onto me, and that isn't enough? Now you want to seduce my business partner too?"

Before she could answer, I crashed my mouth onto hers, kissing hard, biting and tasting like I owned her. I was going to make her understand exactly who she was supposed to please.

Chapter 10

Kiryan

Elena's palm pressed flat to my chest. She froze for a beat, then shoved hard. It didn't do a damn thing to me.

She clenched her jaw, and I traced the line of her lips with my tongue, slow and relentless, until that last bit of resistance cracked under her ragged breathing. She turned her head to dodge me. I followed and pushed back in, my tongue forcing its way past her teeth.

Pain flashed. She bit me.

The metallic taste spread between our mouths, and the animal in my ribs surged, hot and hungry, close to snapping my control in half.

I let her go before she ran out of air.

Her lips looked bruised-red from my mouth. The shine in her eyes didn't make her look weak. It made her anger burn brighter.

"I didn't seduce anyone," she said, staring me down. "Did you really have to humiliate me like this?"

I saw the hurt under it. I knew I should've stopped. I said the opposite anyway.

"You sit in my car wearing the dress I pick. As long as you sit in the Pakhan's wife's seat, you remember who you belong to."

"So that's why you were pissed?" Her lashes shook.

"And that isn't enough?"

"Then what about Isabella?"

The name hit like ice water to the face. I paused. Elena caught it.

"You demanded I remember who I belonged to," she said, turning her face away, "but you never forget Isabella. That isn't fair."

"You don't have to measure yourself against her."

It was the truth. They weren't even close to the same.
