I lift her chin so I can look directly in her eyes. “Always.”
My lips pull to hers as if by magnetic force, and I hold her tighter as she melts into me. When we break apart, she runs her hand over my stubble. “I’m sorry I fought this for so long.”
“I would have fought for you forever.”
“You two are gross,” Gio says on the other side of the counter. “Tell us about this Todd guy.”
I walk Jasmine over to the couch, where she sits and explains to my brothers about her former boss. “I mean, I always knew he had something against me, and maybe also something for me, but why would he be in my condo?”
“Did he say anything to you?” I ask, and she shakes her head.
“He gave me that smug smile of his and then left, as though he had every reason to be walking in on me in my own home.”
I’m going to fucking murder this man.
Jasmine continues, “What does he want from me? What is he looking for so desperately that he’s planting devices to know where I am?”
“That’s something we plan to find out,” Gio says, and Luca nods beside him. “We’ve done one last sweep, and I think we’ve managed to find all the devices in the place. Still, it may not be a bad idea if you stay somewhere else for a while until we find this guy.”
“I mean, we know where he works. It shouldn’t be too difficult,” Jasmine assures my brother.
Luca cracks his knuckles. “We’ll find him.”
Jasmine gives him a small smile, and I love that she isn’t scared of the man. “I’ll go get some clothes packed. Do any of you know if there’s a room available at either of the hotels for me to stay in?”
My jaw drops, and Jasmine stares at me. “What?”
“You’ll be staying with me, thank you very much.”
Her cheeks pinken. “I didn’t want to assume…”
“You should definitely assume. You’re staying with me at Angelo.” I scoff, “As if I’d let you stay at Demone.”
Jasmine smiles and kisses my cheek, then heads to her room to start packing an overnight bag.
Gio lifts an eyebrow at me. “Are you sure you’re ready for a roommate?”
“Of course I am,” I insist.
I’m ready for everything with her.
Chapter 36
Jasmine
Ilaugh as I pool more of the sudsy bubbles up to my chest. “I’m serious, Pen, I feel like Julia Roberts in that film where she’s hired to not kiss on the mouth.”
“I think you’re missing the premise of that movie, Jaz.” When I laugh again, she sighs dreamily. “You sound happy, you know?”
I consider what she says. I do sound happy. I am happy.
Last night, when Dario brought me to his suite, I was in complete shock. You would think it had something to do with seeing my former boss in his home, but the reason was because this suite is completely amazing. It has two bedrooms, and of course, with him being as thoughtful as he is, he offered for me to sleep in the second one. With everything that went down last night, it probably would have been the right thing to do so I could process, but I needed him beside me.
When Dario wrapped his arms around me and pressed a kiss to the back of my head, my entire body relaxed, and all the doubts and fears of the day washed away. I think I got the best sleep I’ve had in years. Then, this morning, I woke up with him between my thighs. He languidly licked and sucked until I came apart on his tongue. After that, we showered, where I came on his cock. And after breakfast, I went to change out of my robe and into fresh clothes for the day, with Dario helping me decide what to wear. After I came on his fingers.
Dario had to meet with his brothers again to figure out who had been following him and see if they could find Todd. I suppose it should bother me that the man who used to lead the meetings I sat in could suffer the same fate as the man who disrespected me last night. It should, but it doesn’t. I probably still need to work on sharing those emotions of mine.
Today I lounged around the room and worked on a few things for Dario. I looked over each of the transactions for the targeted warehouses, attempting to make some connection, but came up short. Dario had room service deliver my lunch as I was working, and now I’m taking a bath before I get ready to meet him at the restaurant downstairs for dinner. It’s perhaps been the best day of my life, and I know I have a handsome mafia man to thank for it. I plan to do that as soon as he gets home.
