I look around the space as best I can without any lights. It’s a cozy room, with a huge fireplace taking up most of the back wall. There is a chaise on one wall and a bookshelf across the other. Finn is on his knees, fiddling with the fireplace. The snick of a match draws my attention as he sets the flame to the logs. It catches instantly, as I notice some paper is stuffed around the logs. Once it’s going, he opens a basket by the chaise and pulls out blankets before spreading them out on the floor. Then he takes the pillows from the couch and sets them in front of the fire too.

“Sit, get comfy, I’ll be right back.” He darts out of the room and I bite my lip, smiling at the sweet way he set up the area in front of the fire. I sit on one of the pillows and stare into the flames, watching them dance in the hearth. The wind is howling and rain pelts the windows, but Finn created a cozy little space just for us and my heart melts.

“Fireside picnic?” He fills the doorway, carrying the items we left in the living room. Laughing, I jump up to grab some of the more precariously balanced items. Once everything is spread out, Finn joins me, sitting close enough our sides are pressed together. Eventually, he wraps an arm around me and I settle my head on his shoulder.

“This is pretty perfect, Finn.”

“Not disappointed to be missing whatever or whoever you were headed to the airport for?” He keeps his voice even, but I can hear an edge to the unasked question. I turn in his arms so I can see his face.

“I was going to San Francisco to meet Marcee and some girls for a club opening. But no, I'm not disappointed at all, nothing could top this night.” Cupping my face, Finn kisses me. It’s slow and tender. Tilting my head to deepen the kiss, I let my hands slide up his chest, resting one hand over his heart. He reaches down and holds my hand there. His heart is racing.

“Do you feel what you do to me, Lex? Everything about you feels so right. I meant it when I said my chest has ached since that day, like my heart had to force itself to beat after losing you. I never want to feel that again. And I know it’s crazy, and too soon to talk like that…” I silence him with another kiss before lifting his shirt and pulling it over his head. He quickly sets to working the buttons of my shirt, well, his shirt, exposing me inch by delicious inch.

Feeling impatient, I reach to help with the buttons, but he stops my hand gently. “No.” His voice is rough, almost raw. “Please. Let me do this. You know, I’ve never seen you completely naked aside from the shower earlier, but I was too frantic with need for you to really take my time. But now? It feels like it's just the two of us in the world, and I want to savor it.”

I don’t trust myself to speak, my throat feels thick, clogged with emotions, so I just smile and kiss this man that I'm falling head over heels for. Finally, the last button gives way and Finn reaches in, spreading the shirt open, letting it slide from my shoulders. Tossing it to the side, he lies me down onto the pile of blankets, staying on his knees and raking his eyes over every inch of me.

“Perfect, you’re so fucking perfect.” His eyes shine in the light, glassy and wet; the flood of emotion in them threatens to drown me.

His eyes roam over every exposed inch of me, stalling at my side. His fingers slowly trace the tattoo of hibiscus and plumeria on my side. “These are so perfectly you.” Finn’s tone is hushed.

“Well, you picked them,” I whisper, nervous to share this piece of me, which is funny, seeing as I’ve freely shared my body with him. But this is so intensely personal and scary to share. He looks into my eyes and I see the question there. “The flowers you got me—”

“For graduation,” he finishes for me, staring at the tattoo in awe.

“Even before all of this, that moment, the care you offered, it left a mark on me. When I got this tattoo, I knew it had to be those flowers, because they represented the first time someone saw me and made me feel special.”

Finn’s stare holds mine, so many unspoken words and feelings passing between us, and I feel laid bare before him, and I want all of him as well.

“You are everything, baby.” And I can see he means it. Suddenly, I want, no, I need him naked. To have nothing between us.

“Now, my turn. Take off your clothes, Finn.” He stands, stripping out of his pants, then lowering his boxers. His cock bobs against his stomach. He is fucking gorgeous, his strong muscles and skin tanned from hours at the beach, he’s so sexy. But it’s those penetrating blue eyes that have me in a chokehold. I’m transfixed, unable to move.

Finn palms his cock, rubbing himself a few times while he watches me. I reach for him and he lies down beside me propped up on one arm like he has all the time in the world. He presses a kiss to the art on my side before moving inward.

“I love these piercings.” His voice a whisper as he leans in, flicking his tongue over my pebbled nipple before biting the bar and giving it a slight tug, making me gasp. Smiling, he meets my eyes before trailing kisses down my stomach, skipping over my clit and kissing the inside of my thighs.

“Finn,” I whine as I reach for his head to guide him where I want him.

The infuriating man just shakes his head, pulling away from me. “Tell me what you want, use your words, baby girl.” The phrase sends me straight back to the first night we had sex, when we were in his car, his fingers buried inside of me and he said the same thing.

“Make me come, Daddy,” I mummer, parroting my words from that night as his eyes hood with pleasure.

“Good girl.”

Then he presses his mouth to my pussy, eating me like he could stay there all night. After making me come twice, we make love in front of the warm fire while the storm rages outside. Eventually, we fall asleep tangled together, and for the first time in months, I sleep all night and wake up happy and content.

FINN

I never knew it could feel so good waking up to someone in my arms, but with Alexis, it's as natural as breathing. I lie there just watching her sleep, lazily tracing her body with my fingertips, unable to get enough of her. Her eyes start to flutter and she gives me a tired smile then stretches her body, purring like a cat before burrowing in close, pressing her face to my chest. Wrapping my arms around her, I kiss her head, breathing her in.

The storm has stopped and the power must have come back on during the night because I can see the kitchen lights on from here. I startle looking at the clock, it's after nine. I never sleep this late, hell, I haven’t slept a full night in what feels like years.

“Why’d ya tense?” Damn her voice is groggy and sexy in the morning.

“Just realized this is the first time I slept all night in quite a while.”
