“Hey, are you okay?” He strokes my hair, soothing me.

I snub. “Yes, and no.”

“Gracious, love, what happened?” It hits me out of the blue, my pants are covered in blood. This may be the most humiliating experience in my life.

I shudder, realizing I need to tell him. “I have PCOS and a cyst ruptured. I can’t leave without a ride, but…”

“What, Lola? But what?” He looks into my eyes, and I bury my face in my hands.

“I’m covered in blood. I can’t get into your car like this.” My humiliation is complete.

He places his thumb under my chin, lifting my face to him. “I don’t care about that damn car. You will always be more important than anything money can buy, Lola. You always have been.”

“Maybe we can take my car, or I might have a coat in it I can sit on.” I shut my eyes while everything in me dies from shame.

“How long have you been here?” He frowns, making me feel even worse for worrying him.

I shrug. “Around midnight.”

“You’ve been alone the entire time? Why?” He tugs me to him, wrapping me in his arms. “Don’t you dare do this again. You’re not alone anymore. Do you hear me?”

I peer up at him, whispering. “Thank you.”

A slight rap on the door and it swings open. “Mister Daly, we have your fiancée’s papers ready.”

His eyes snap to mine as I quirk my brow. “Please, come in.”

“I need you to sign them saying she’s going with you and you’re responsible for her.” She hands him a pen.

“Of course, anything she needs.” He takes the pen, scribbling his name.

She takes it from him, handing him my prescriptions. “Here you go. Get these filled as soon as possible.” She turns and pauses. “I got everything switched for her insurance, and you’ll get the bill next week.”

He shifts his feet. “Ahh, thank you.”

“Congratulations again, I’m sure you’re going to have a beautiful wedding.” She sighs, smiling wide as she leaves.

He smiles at me lopsidedly. “Sorry.”

“When is this wedding?” I cross my arms, trying to look angry.

He lifts his shoulders. “This summer.” Letting them fall with a grin. “They wanted your insurance information after I had to tell them we were engaged.”

“Why would you have to tell them anything. I let them know.”

He blinks rapidly. “We need to get you home.” He reaches for my hand.

“Why?” I wipe my nose on my sleeve.

“No reason. I wanted to tell them.” If my heart wasn’t so damn happy about it, I’d be so mad right now.

I hold my hand up. “I have no ring, Sherlock.”

“Nothing we can’t fix, Watson.”

“You’ve lost your mind.” He smiles wide. “Let’s go home.”

He helps me down, taking off his hoodie. He ties it around my waist, staring into my eyes as he does. “Not for the car, only for you.”

“Thank you again.” My face heat as I blush.
