I drop my bag back into the seat. “Should I go before he gets here?”

“Only if you’re taking me with you.” Her blue eyes sparkle in the sun. “For the record, no one else would ever do.”

I grab my stuff, closing the door behind me. “Good thing I showed up then.”

“I’m not complaining; you’ll do just fine.” She spins on her heels, walking back to her truck. I can’t help but to watch her as she does; it’s a fine view. Once she realizes I’m not following her, she looks over her shoulder. “Are you comin’?”

“I’m waiting for the show.” I waggle my brows.

She turns, facing me with a mischievous grin. Slowly, she hooks her shirt and begins to raise both arms. “Wait. Did you mean this kinda show, or is there another?” saying as she drops her shirt.

“Is there any other worth seeing?” My cock shakes its head. “Did you think of that all on your own just to tease me?”

“You know it.” She smirks, tapping her temple.

I freeze, widening my eyes, as I nod in understanding. “Brain damage.”

“Forget you, Hatcher.” She spins around, leaving me behind. Oddly enough, as I watch her perfect ass, I don’t mind.

“Hey, I still need to get my board!”

“I can wait on you.” She half shrugs. “I’ve been doing it all day.”

I stop, cocking my brow. “I believe I beat you to the garage.”

“So, we’re even.” She rolls her eyes.

“Always.” I wink, and the storm that’s usually brewing in her eyes electrifies with intensity.

I drop my bag in the bed of her truck and hurry back to get my board, and our camping equipment. After securing it down, I lock my ride and slide in beside her. She side-eyes me before starting the vehicle.

“Buckle up, dear.” She giggles, readying to get on the road.

She pulls out about the time I reach for the belt. “You could give me a chance to protect myself from your driving, you know.”

“Yeah, I know,”—she side eyes me with a smirk before focusing on the road—“but what’s the fun in that?”

“You’re right.” I latch the seatbelt. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

She continues to giggle, and it’s contagious. Before I can stop myself, we’re both laughing uncontrollably as she turns onto Highway Seventeen heading North to U.S. Seventy.

“So, what do you have up your sleeve for tonight?” She glances at me, the sun catching her face and glistening in her eyes. I lean over, catching a piece of her hair flying in the wind and tuck it behind her ear.

“There ya go. Now I can see you better.” I run my thumb over her jaw, watching her as she blushes.

She bites and releases her bottom lip. “Thank you, Boone.”

“Never a problem, Kenzie.” I watch as a small smile creeps across her face. “I thought we would surf fish tonight after we set up the tent and maybe hit the good waves in the morning.”

She taps the steering wheel with her fingers along to the music. “Sounds like a plan; I like it.”

“We can stop for some food once we’re in town.” Small talk, I hate it. But there’s no way I can keep from talking to her. I love every minute we spend together. I want to know everything about her.

“Alrighty.” She cuts her eyes at me. “Why are you being so weird?”

“I’m not.” I shift in my seat, checking out the scenery. “I mean, I’m not trying to be, unless you think I am. Am I?”

Her mouth twitches. “Well, you’re kinda odd anyway. I could be wrong.”
