The cheers in the arena are deafening as we huddle around Nick to celebrate his goal.

“Fuck yeah, dude. Way to break the tie,” I say.

He grins and points at me. “All because of you, man. You made it a clean shot for me. Best defenseman ever.”

When we break apart, the fans are going crazy, smacking the glass as they holler at us. But there’s only one person I see.

I zero in on Lucy. She’s on her feet, smiling and cheering, wearing my jersey.

I stare at her, grinning like an idiot.

I skate over to her. “You look damn good in my jersey.”

She giggles. “This is the third time you’ve said that to me tonight. You told me that twice during warmup, remember?”

“Can’t help it. I love seeing my girlfriend wear my name and my number.”

That pretty rosy blush spreads across her cheeks. She lifts an eyebrow at me, and the look in her eyes turns playful. “You sure I’m not distracting you?”

“No way. Having you here, seeing you in the stands, is helping me play better than ever.”

She beams. “You’re lucky you’re not easily distracted then.”

“Lucky to have you as my girlfriend.”

Emotion flickers in her sparkling blue eyes. Her lush mouth curves up into a heart-stopping smile.

Fireworks blast off in my chest. I still can’t believe she’s mine.

I look at her, at the woman who owns my whole heart. I really am the luckiest.

“Can I look yet?”

“Not yet,” Leo says from behind me. “Keep those eyes closed.”

I bite back a smile. Despite how much I want to see what’s going on, I keep my eyes shut.

I hear a soft noise to the side. Maybe dishes tapping?

“Okay. You can open your eyes now.”

When I do, I gasp. “Oh my god! Leo!”

I’m standing in the living room of my parents’ house. My house.

Everything’s the same as I left it when I was last here, just a few days ago. Except now there’s a candlelight dinner on a picnic blanket in the middle of the floor.

I turn to Leo, who’s standing next to me. I’m smiling so hard, my cheeks ache.

He grins. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Luce.”

I grab his face and kiss him until he’s moaning against my mouth. When we break apart, he grabs my hand, and we sit down on the blanket.
