“The worst that can happen is that she might come back with some scratches,” I said confidently. “Send repellent with her for the bugs, and I’ll have band-aids and alcohol and a GPS emergency beacon for anything else.”
He paused briefly, then nodded. “Okay. As long as you’re going too.”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” I smiled. “It’s one of the highlights of the year for me. Now, what are you doing for the rest of the night, besides being a big worried papa bear?”
“Whatever it is, I hope I’m doing it with you,” he said.
My heart just about seized up at the words. It didn’t stop racing as my smile turned coy and playful. “How about we finish our drinks and I take you on a walk?”
Into my panties.
But I didn’t say that. We weren’t in the heat of the moment and I hadn’t had nearly enough alcohol to loosen my tongue that much. Still, I thought about it as hard as I could, hoping he would read my mind.
Remington’s gaze remained on mine, and I saw the spark of heat in it as he nodded.
“I rather enjoyed our last walk. I’m in.” He knocked back his whiskey and stood up, extending a hand toward me as he inclined his head at the door. “I’m ready when you are.”
I am so ready. I’ve been ready.
I planted my palm firmly in his outstretched hand, leaving my drink unfinished on the bar. Gracie winked at me as I slid off the stool, and I hid my grin by pretending to cough into my palm.
This was it.
Apparently, I’d made my decision about having a bit of fun this summer. Anticipation swirled through me as I turned my back on my friend and led the way to the door. Remington let go of my hand but placed his in the small of my back. His light touch sent a thrill cascading through me, heating my blood.
Please let me not be making a mistake right now. I sent the silent plea out into the universe as we walked out of the lobby, heading toward my cabin by unspoken agreement.
Wet dirt squelched softly beneath our feet, the ground still damp from all the rain last night. At least it wasn’t as muddy as it had been this morning, but with each of those soft squelches, I was reminded of the rain last night and the moment I’d seen Remington walking through it to get to me.
That memory blurred into one of his lips moving against mine, and that, in turn, made me remember how I’d spent half the night last night with an insatiable need for him making my body ache. His hand slid to my hip, and his grip tightened as if he was remembering all the same things. We both started walking a little bit faster, my heartrate picking up along with the sound of my breathing becoming more labored.
We were practically jogging by the time we reached my steps, and before we were even through the door, he spun me around into his arms and then we were kissing again. There was an urgency to it, and we stumbled into my cabin without breaking the kiss for so much as a second.
Once we were inside, he stepped into me completely, flattening his body against mine with that bulge as hard as it’d been last night where it pressed against my belly button. I moaned, my hands already dropping to the fly of his jeans.
I found the button quickly, flipping it open and tugging his zipper down before he kicked the door shut behind us. One arm was hooked around my waist and the other pressed up against my chest as he held my face. With us now sealed safely inside and alone, he finally let go of me, but only to reach for the hem of my sundress. He pulled it up and off, our mouths only separating to let the material pass before they crashed back together.
Left in only my bra and panties—a cute, turquoise set I’d worn in the hopes this would happen—I reached for his T-shirt next, making quick work of pulling it off even as I backed up toward my bed. As we stumbled to it, his pants fell, and while I was tempted to push his underwear right off with them, I kind of wanted to savor that part.
At the very best, this was a summer fling. If it even lasted that long. At worst, it would only happen this one time. Either way, I’d been dying to see that body in all its glory since I’d met him.
I wasn’t about to ruin the moment by taking it as fast and as greedily as my body wanted me to.

REMINGTON
All those hours of yoga combined with her natural curves had given Birdie the body of the angel of my dreams. As I laid her down on her bed and took a step back, I swore I trembled with the need to bury myself in that sexy body and stay there forever.
She was shaped like a full hourglass, her hips, tits, and ass ripe with perfect curves leading from one part of her to the next. Her skin was golden from all the time she spent in the sun, and with only a scrap of turquoise panties on and an equally lacy bra, I almost lost it right then and there.
Her nipples were pebbled to hard points, a darkish pink pressing against the lace covering them. Between her thighs, there was a definite wet spot on those panties and I groaned, my eyes flying up to meet hers once more.
I found her giving me a once-over as intense as the one I’d just given her, and I hooked my thumbs into my black boxers briefs to slowly lower them down. Her lips parted, her breathing speeding up as she watched me drop them. Then she looked up at me, spreading her legs. She lifted her hand and curled her fingers, beckoning me to her.
I went without hesitation, sliding my hands with flat palms along those delicious curves and cupping her ribs as I planted a hot kiss on her lips. “Shit, Birdie. You’re driving me wild over here. Has anyone ever told you that you’re absolutely fucking breathtaking without your clothes on?”
She laughed against my mouth, the sound husky now but still carefree. “No, I don’t think they have, but the same goes for you.”
