His fingers stroked every part of my insides, his thumb moving up to paint circles around my clit. Pleasure ignited deep inside, and when he saw it reflected back at him, he started tightening the circles, making them smaller on every pass instead of the wide, lazy rings they had been.
Brow puckering right along with mine, he knew exactly what I needed. He moved just a little bit faster, his pressure increasing until I tensed underneath him. Even then, his eyes remained on mine, and his free hand moved up my ribs to pinch my nipple.
The sparks of pleasure turned into an inferno that engulfed me as soon as his lips touched mine. I cried out, spasming. My toes curled and the orgasm dragged me under. When I finally came out from under its spell, Kody’s breathing was just as ragged as mine, his eyes dark and his lips swollen.
“Shit, I can’t get enough of seeing that,” he muttered breathlessly. “Again.”
The command had barely fallen from his lips before his hand started moving all over again, gentler this time and avoiding the areas that were still too oversensitive. I had no idea how he always seemed to know exactly what to do to get me there. He started kissing me almost lazily, making me feel absolutely no pressure to get there again at all, and the pleasure started to build again.
I was almost at the point of no return when I suddenly broke the kiss and shook my head. Wrapping an arm around his shoulders, I pressed a little kiss to the tip of his nose. “Not without you.”
He groaned. “Wish I could argue, but it might just happen anyway. Not sure how much longer I can hold back.”
“Then don’t,” I insisted. “You’ve got a condom, right?”
“Always.” He winked at me and disappeared for just a fraction of a second while I screwed my eyes shut and missed the weight of him on me.
It turned out he didn’t even have to leave his bed, simply producing a condom seemingly out of thin air and rolling it on. When he sat down on the bed, I opened my eyes to see him with his back against the headboard, his hands already reaching for mine.
I took them, sliding my legs on either side of his hips as I positioned myself over him. The broad tip of him nestled against my entrance. “Have you ever done this without a condom?”
He blinked back his surprise at the question and shook his head, his voice rough when he replied. “No. I’ve never wanted to either, but I sure as hell do right now.”
“We can’t, but for what it’s worth, I’m right there with you.”
A low, dark chuckle came out of him, running right into a groan as I sank down on him, still holding his hands and looking into his eyes as I fed him into me. I knew I was daydreaming about something that would never happen, but just for one short moment, I allowed myself to imagine what this would be like with him with nothing between us. If we were ever in a real, committed relationship and trusted each other enough not to give each other some disease.
I tried to imagine what it would be like if we used some other method of birth control, but only until we decided it was time to start trying for a family.
Realizing it was just some pie in the sky and that I was only setting myself up for heartbreak, I refocused on the present and the way his mouth was slightly agape, his brow puckered as he moaned with his eyes now closed. This was what we had, and it was enough for me. Just getting to be here with him again was more than enough, and that was all I needed to be focused on.
I started moving in earnest then, pushing up on my knees before sinking back down fast because I wanted him too much to take it slow. Kody matched my rhythm effortlessly, thrusting into me as he opened his eyes and held mine. His head rested back against the headboard as I kissed him again.
Much too quickly, I was right back where I’d been before I’d stopped him, and just like he’d said, he was right there with me. His rhythm faltered as I tightened around him. Then I mashed my lips against his as I surrendered to the powerful pleasure waiting to take over.
It raced through me like a bolt of lightning, making me shake as I held on to him like he was the only thing tethering me to the world. Kody, in turn, roared my name as his hips jerked and his thighs quivered, and then, when it was over, he held me and neither of us moved until he had to take care of the condom.
When he crawled back into bed, naked as the day he was born and with all those abs and curved muscles on display, I ogled him openly, smiling as he tucked me in against him. “You’re pretty hot, do you know that?”
He chuckled and pressed a kiss to my shoulder. “Right back at you, but you already know how beautiful I think you are.”
“Do I?” I teased. “Nah, not when you’ve got women like Marissa waiting in the wings.”
He groaned, lying down on his side and bending his arm at the elbow to rest his head in his palm, his head now hovering only an inch or so above mine. “We’ve already talked about that. There’s nothing going on between us. Never has been and never will be.”
“I know, and I’m not fishing for compliments or anything. It’s just that she made me realize how much I don’t know about you. And how many other women you could be spending time with.”
“I’m not spending time with anyone but you. Don’t want to.” He lifted a hand and rested it right over my heart, not even pretending to cop a feel to lighten this up. “How can something so wrong feel so right?”
“I’ve been wondering the same thing, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s wrong.”
He sighed, but then he moved his hand down my side and tickled me. “True, but let’s forget about that for a minute. What do you want to know?”
I giggled, wriggling until he stopped with the tickling and then getting comfortable against him. “I don’t know. Tell me anything you want. I just want to know what else there is to know about you.”
He kissed my forehead, then let his head drop to the pillow as he thought it over. Sated and carefree just for a little while, he told me all kinds of stories about himself and Kaden growing up, and I told him how I’d gotten into my line of work.
I didn’t know how many nights like this we had left. If we would ever even have another. But I refused to think about it like that. Kody and I would figure it out, and eventually, we’d move on. Because we had to. There was no other way.
