Kilian took a watering can and sprinkled the patches all over. “There are bees, birds, noise from the courts, many people have passed by and about, there are too many scents, loud wind, your own thoughts amongst all that. Can you tell me if you noticed anything? Heard anything else?”
“No. I didn’t.”
“Exactly. Shut the world off. Use your senses in one direction. I know you can, I’ve seen you do it thousands of times before. It doesn’t matter what lurks in my darkness. Or the one inside you. What it whispers to you. You’ve not forgotten to shut the world, you’re just readjusting the ways you use.”
I dropped my gaze at my gloved hands. “Couldn’t you’ve just told me?”
“No.” He chucked his gloves away. “So damn pretty.”
“Daffodils are the ugliest flower to exist.”
“I meant you. All roughed up, dirty, sweaty. Angrily staring at me.” He swivelled a look all over me. “Exquisite.”
I threw off my own gloves and went down on my knees before him, trailing my hands to feel up those muscles I’d eyed all day.
He hissed, cursing under his breath when I cupped his cock, stroking him over the thin material of the trousers. “Not on your knees,” he said, grabbing my hand when I went to unbutton them.
Slowly, I undid the buttons, looking up at him. “I love the view though,” I said, leaving kisses on his strong thighs and pulling his thick length out of his underwear. “So panoramic.”
His fingers slipped through my hair, tugging so I would look up at him again. “You should see mine.”
I sucked the tip just to watch his face purse with pleasure—almost pained. The more I took him in mouth, the more his chest raised, a small, tortured whimper leaving his lips when his length hit the back of my throat.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he moaned, stroking hair out of my face as I wrapped my hand around the base and swallow as much of him as I could, gagging and moaning around him.
Heat pooled between my legs, the thin underwear I wore uncomfortably plastered against my wetness. The torture was intoxicating—one different from what I was used to. I figured I liked torturing the man I loved. And he liked it back because he didn’t take control this time. I slipped him off my mouth, stroking him in my hand while I ran my tongue all over, sucking licking, tasting—exploring him how I wanted. How he did with me.
When I looked up, I found him already looking down at me, his mouth parting with a moan when I sucked more of him, so many dirty sounds blended with nature, growing louder, needier. His hips started moving along with me and tears pricked my eyes from the intensity.
“Snow,” he groaned my name, his hips jerked forward, and I felt him spill on my tongue, his hand tightening on my hair to hold me there, buried in me.
I coughed when he pulled out, trying to swallow every bit of him.
He kissed the top of my head and got me to my feet, wiping the drool off my mouth and the tears off my eyes and cheeks. “The only tears I want in your face are these.”
I swiped my tongue over my lips, tasting him there still. “Thank you for being such a patient teacher.”
“Anything for my best student.” He grabbed my chin and kissed me—all over. “Always the overachiever.”
“Prick.”
His hand slipped over my throat. “I ought to bend you over my lap and teach you a lesson.” He dragged my lip between his teeth, a shiver making my legs almost give away. “But I need you to be able to sit for our next lesson. I really got to know where all this attitude is coming from.”
Nothing had left me remotely as sore as gardening combined with last night’s activities, but despite the great difficulty, I’d managed to get myself up for the meeting. Vidarr had sent news that the last of my father’s troops had sailed off Comnhall entirely last night and that he was most certain that Isjord had left with a deal as he’d seen shipments being dropped off secretly and hauled inside Breshall castle. Some shipments would have not been cause for concern considering that Isjord had imported coal and horses from the unblessed for centuries in exchange for jewels and gold, but I knew there were no jewels or gold in those containers. After letting them sniff power, they had probably demanded more from my father.
Now, why wasn’t I across the continent, holding a boot over an unblessed prince’s neck and squeezing an answer out of their lungs, but sitting here and mulling it over with our courts?
One answer.
Kilian and the ‘We could lose a potential ally and your father could gain a stronger, angrier one fuelled with motive. You saw how they reacted when you staged the ship accidents. They believe he is reigning war, not destruction, and they will believe just that till flames melt their bodies. They do not know their fate, they won’t believe their fate, they have no fate. Their fate has always been dependent on us.’ whole speech.
After he’d made me come a few times, those words had sounded remotely close to prose by a philosopher. Now that I thought about it, they only made me angry.
When my gaze slid across the room to look over at Leanna speaking, I caught him looking at me and heat crawled up my face at the sight of his slightly bruised lip. Maybe I should have not bit him that hard.
What? I mouthed.
His silver stare dropped to my mouth and then slowly back up at me. Nothing. Just looking, he replied.
