“Try to focus, man.”

“I’ll call you if I see any of them. Forwarding this photo too.”

“Which you’ll delete once we get her back.”

“Of course.” But there was humor in his voice, like this was all a joke.

Michael managed to keep his frustration behind his lips.

Bryan opened the door and started to get out. Before he did, his hand dropped on Michael’s shoulder. “Be careful.”

“You too.”

“I’m just having a cup of coffee.”

“If he sees you—”

“I got it. See you soon.” He climbed out and slammed the door.

His brother limped away, heavy on the cane he’d been using a lot since the ambush at the campground a couple of weeks before.

“He’ll be fine.” Stone shifted into drive and turned toward the hotel.

Alyssa had been monitoring the phones associated with Waleed Shehab. According to her, they hadn’t moved.

The guards should be there. Waleed should be there.

Please, God, let Leila and Jasmine be there, unharmed.

Just in case, Bryan would keep an eye out for the Mercedes van that’d cut him off at the airport. He’d be watching from the coffee shop near the entrance to the marina.

Meanwhile, Brock had directed a satellite to watch the air and water around the island. Michael didn’t assume the satellite they were using had the newest technology, meaning it would only be helpful if the clouds broke up or at least thinned out. If anything, though, they were only getting thicker.

All that surveillance should prove overkill because he and his team would rescue Leila and Jasmine in the next few minutes. Please.

He glanced at his friend, who was focused on the narrow cobblestone roads. “Tell me about the op.”

“It was a target Tile found.”

Tile was one of their teammates. As in projectile, as in projectile vomit.

Made Michael thankful for being called Wrong.

“What prompted it?”

Stone shot him a glare. “You wanna know? You should’ve been there. With your team.”

Huh.

Stone was his closest friend on the team. If Stone was ticked at him…

“My girlfriend was kidnapped.”

“You didn’t have to join our team, Wrong.” The name, usually said with humor, came out vitriolic. “You could’ve kept working alone. But you decided—”
