“Then I don’t want to know, not yet. Not until after you scream my name at least twice.”

She laughed, pushing off his chest and flicking her shoulder-length hair back. “I hope you haven’t forgotten how incredible I am in bed. I seem to remember you particularly liked to say I was incredible when I took your cock in my mouth and …” Her tongue darted over her lip, agonizingly slowly.

He choked on a laugh. This was so her, diffusing a heavy conversation with some light teasing.

Fuck, he missed it.

He missed her.

His dick straining against the thin material of his shorts might’ve been too much of a giveaway of how vivid his memory of Jackie whimpering and moaning drove him up the wall.

Mitch chuckled, tilting her chin back and kissing her closed mouth. “You’re impossible. Let’s go. But we need to make a short stop at Estrella and Bruno’s place first. I want to check on Lina and Gus.”

She groaned. “Do we have to?”

“You’d put sex above the welfare of innocent animals?”

“Just sex? No. Sex I’ve been waiting on for ten years? Hell, yeah.” She covered her mouth with her hands. “Damn it, that makes me sound heartless.”

Mitch swung his arm around her shoulders. “You’re not heartless, but trust me, you’re doing wonders for my ego right now.”

Jackie glanced directly at his crotch, her smirk widening. “It appears so.”

“Keep winding me up and you might find yourself with my cock in your mouth sooner than you think.”

“Do you promise?” she asked, hopefully.

He snorted, shaking his head. “Don’t even think about it.”

They didn’t say anything but the way their gazes caught each other, locking in for a stretched moment filled with lust and desire, was more expressive than any words could’ve been.

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

January, ten years ago

Jackie

“Betty, you wonderful, wonderful woman! Another round of tequila, pleaseeeee,” Jackie sang, tilting her head with a full grin across her lips. She leaned over the bar of Betty’s Hens, her head heavy.

Betty chortled. “You know how to celebrate, Jacks.”

Jackie hit the bar with her palm. “It isn’t every day all your dreams come true.”

“And it’s only the beginning.” Mitch appeared behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “We’ll take two rounds, both on me.”

Betty nodded at him and lined eight tequila glasses on a circular tray.

Jackie spun round, putting her palms against his chest. “I can pay for our drinks.”

“I know. But you paid earlier, then Lyla did, then Nick—it’s my turn now.” He winked at her.

She sighed, slumping against his side. She was too happy and too tipsy to argue with him. “Fine,” she murmured into his shirt.

His palm pressed into the small of her back. “Lyla said she’s dragging you line-dancing ‘Footloose’ when it comes on.”

Jackie groaned. “I should’ve never told her about this place and their Line Dancing Wednesdays.”

“You love dancing. And you’re the one who got her into it, so you can only blame yourself.”
