Zaina smiled. “You really like her, don’t you?”
“I do, and I guess I have you to thank for introducing us beforehand.”
“I did it on purpose too.” Zaina giggled. “You’re a good man, and she’s a good woman. You’re both deserving of love. When I saw you the night of my party, it was like a bell went off in my mind. Some of my other friends were upset I didn’t introduce you to them instead.”
“Nah, you did exactly what you were supposed to do. I appreciate you for it.”
“You’re welcome.” Clearing her throat, Zaina stood up and got AJ’s attention. “Didn’t you say you wanted some ice cream?”
“I do, but I can wait until later.”
“Let’s get it now so it can settle on your stomach before the game.”
AJ’s gaze went between all three of us before he scooted his chair back. He never took his eyes off me as he went over to Zaina, who draped her arm over his shoulder and led him away. When AJ wasn’t looking, I mouthed ‘thank you’ to Zaina and slid over to Brittish.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do with him.” She snickered, shaking her head. “You’re going to get in trouble, being over here with me.”
“The only person who can get me in trouble is you. I’ve been thinking about you all morning.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes, really. Why didn’t you text me back?”
“Because I was thinking about what you said.”
My brows dipped. “What was there to think about?”
“What we could do tonight.” She peered over at me and smirked. “Oh, did you think I wasn’t going to say yes? Did I have you a little nervous?” Brittish playfully tugged on my beard.
“Maybe so. I came over here to make sure you weren’t going to act funny with me, especially not after the other night.”
“I couldn’t act funny with you if I tried, Nyle. How do you feel about karaoke?”
“Is that what you’re trying to do tonight?”
She eagerly nodded her head. “I am. Drunk karaoke is the best, and I haven’t been in so long. I figured it would be something fun for us to do.”
“I’m down for anything when it involves you. The last game should be over by four, so I can come get you around eight, once we get back to Maven Falls.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
If we weren’t around the team and parents, I would’ve kissed her cheek. Instead, I winked at her and went back to join the boys just as AJ came back over. He didn’t seem bothered as he chatted and ate his ice cream. All the while, I couldn’t pry my eyes from his mother.
Whatever Brittish was doing to me, I enjoyed it. I didn’t mind running around the bases to score a homerun with her. While the sex was good, I knew her heart was even better. Winning that would be the ultimate prize.
I arrived at Brittish’s house at eight on the dot, and she told me to come inside while she finished getting ready. My dick jumped upon seeing her. The dark wash, high waisted jeggings she wore had her ass rippling something serious. I had to talk myself down because as badly as I wanted to be in her, I wanted the night to have a different type of intimacy, one that sex couldn’t compare to.
She rushed off so quickly that she didn’t notice the flowers I held for her. I trailed behind her into her room where she sat on the bed to put her shoes on.
“I’m so sorry I’m not ready,” she rambled without looking up. “I’m usually on time, but I desperately needed a nap after being out in the sun all day.”
“It’s all good. I’m not in a rush.”
“I just want to make sure we get there and get good seats. You’re going to . . .” Her voice trailed off when she finally looked up at me. That beautiful smile of hers rose her cheeks as she stood up and examined the flowers. “They’re stunning, Nyle. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Pretty Lady. You look amazing.”
“As do you. I like it when you wear your hair down. It’s so pretty.” She stepped closer to me and placed her hand on my slightly exposed chest. I went to wrap my arm around her waist and stopped. Immediately, Brittish noticed. Taking my arm, she snaked it around her waist to where my hand rested on the top of her ass. Her head tilted to the side as she reminded me, “You don’t have to ask, Nyle. I want nothing more than to feel your touch.”
