“Jenna,” I groan against her, her name vibrating into her mouth. Her thighs clench, forcing her thinly covered core to drag over my dick. My hands instantly release her hair and slap down on her ass, holding her still over me.
She purrs against my lips, causing the hum to dance against my tongue. I swallow, and Jenna releases me.
“No,” I moan, not wanting her to stop kissing me. I place one hand back in her hair.
“Archer,” she softly cries in that way she did the other day as I held the showerhead at her clit.
“Yeah, babe?” I tease, questioning her but swallowing her answer as I seek her mouth again. Her hips rock, and my eyes would roll back if they weren’t already shut. I don’t need to see her. I feel her. I feel her everywhere. On my cock. In my chest. Burrowing toward my racing heart.
“What are you doing to me?” I groan as my balls tighten. I don’t know that I’ve ever been this hard.
She doesn’t answer but dives into my mouth again, forcing her tongue against mine and sucking at my lower lip before giving it a teasing bite. She pulls back, but I lift my head, not allowing her to retreat far before meeting her mouth again. Her hips rock forward. I thrust upward. My hand holds one ass cheek and her fingers dig into my shoulders.
“Fuck,” I mutter, releasing her. “I’m so close.”
“I’m gonna . . . You’re gonna . . . make me . . .” Jenna stills, clenching her entire body tight. Her thighs squeeze my hips, and her pelvis tips the slightest bit. Warm wetness soaks her shorts and seeps against my covered length, and I can’t hold back. I come like a teen on his first time, spewing in my boxers and loving every second of the release. Jenna shifts, but I grip her hips, keeping her over me until my dick stops pulsing and the final drop drips.
Our eyes meet. “You made me come from a kiss.”
Her dark eyes light up, and a slow grin curls her swollen, red lips. “You kissed me until I came.”
We both chuckle, and her body jiggles over mine until I roll us to our sides. Our legs tangle together as my arms wrap around her, keeping her close to me. There’s so much I want to say, words piling up on the tip of my tongue that I’ve never said to anyone before. Words that feel too soon and too easy to give to her.
Instead, I just look at her. Those dark eyes. That raven hair. Those kissed lips. I try to memorize everything about her to carry deep inside me on my next mission.

[Archer]
In the morning, I wake alone but hear the subtle sounds of the television. My bedroom is still dark. Dang, those princesses are early risers. Speaking of an early riser, I have something that needs attention and no warm woman to attend to it. I smile to myself with thoughts of last night.
Then I consider my actions. I kissed her.
What was I thinking?
I answer my own thought. I was thinking I wanted to kiss her, and she didn’t disappoint. Everything about Jenna surprises me. I’m the guy who doesn’t want to be close to another woman for as long as I continue to live, but I can’t fight this attraction between us. However, I can’t go through what I went through with Viviana. I need to keep my head up, stay alert, and heal to prove to the department I’m ready to return.
Still, I can’t seem to keep my hands off Jenna or my mouth . . . which waters just thinking about kissing her again.
On that note, I flip back the covers and sit upright, rubbing my left thigh, which aches. I can’t believe I told Jenna part of my history. Then again, it felt good to get some of that off my chest to someone other than my therapist. Sure, I told Noah some things as well, but Jenna, again, is different. Sitting on the edge of the bed, I scrub two hands down my face.
“Did they wake you?” Jenna’s sleep-rough voice from near the door is like an electric current to a part of me already erect and standing at full mast. Her presence startles me, and I turn to glance at her while trying to adjust myself. It’s hopeless. One look in her direction destroys any chance of my morning wood lowering its salute.
“Hey.” My own voice croaks. “No, I didn’t hear them.” I should have heard the girls. My ears used to be perked for the slightest sound. I used to sleep deep but in short spurts, but something about sleeping next to Jenna lulled me into relaxed comfort. A strange peace surrounds me when I’m near her.
Leaning on the open door, she tilts her head against the wood. “I was going to make breakfast. Want to put in a request?”
My request would be for her to return to this bed and be my meal, but I understand the princesses need their mother, and the queen takes on a new role. From sympathizer and seductress last night, Jenna slips easily back into caregiver, protector, and breakfast provider. I chuckle at the thought. She’s a pretender, too. Or is she?
I stare at her a second longer, deciding Jenna plays many roles, but she isn’t faking any of them. She’s multitalented and can multitask. She’s going to tend to her girls—and me if I let her. And I haven’t had someone take care of me in a long time.
“Come here.” I tip my head at her, beckoning her to cross the room. I just want a sip of her sweet taste this morning.
Jenna stands before me, and I wrap my arms around her thighs, tugging her between my spread knees. Her hands lower to my shoulders, and I peer up at her.
“How’d you sleep?” she whispers, giving me that caring I didn’t know I was craving.
“Like a log.” I mean it. No bad dreams. No nightmares that woke me. Just peace. Her hand swipes over my hair as I look up at her, like a puppy begging for a treat. “Kiss me.”
